Hey all,
my '99 A3 has recently (last week or so) started displaying a behaviour wherein it seems to be a bit down on power (not dramatically so, but I notice it), especially in lower revs and sometimes hesitates for a moment when I press the throttle. If I go to run through the gears, power...
Bleeding hell, that's a lot of work and cash I imagine. Perhaps I can find something kinda nice looking and feeling that is a more direct replacementâ¦
Do MKIV Golf/Bora knobs work, anyone know?
My '99 gear knob has lost its cap and is ugly anyway, and a mate's facelifted A3 has a S3 shifter so I was looking at transplanting his original into mine. At first blush, it appears the actual attachment system and reverse-pushdown system is different, but it was dark and I was pretty tired...
Welp, throttle body is cleaned, but I found a bit of oil in the intake hose. When I was trying to get a better look, this happened:
Gaffer taped it back in place as a "wishful" attempt to patch it, and the problem is worse than before (less time between revs)
It stands to reason that...
What's the best way to test for the latter situation? Throttle body gasket "should" arrive tomorrow so I can do it tomorrow evening, might as well be ready to take the next step in testing after that.
Also I'm kinda feeling foolish, but didn't realise until I refuelled last night that my...
AKL 1.6, just bought it last week (103,000km) and I'm ironing out the issues with it one by one. This one has me a bit confused.
It won't always do it, but sometimes I'll be idling and notice the revs are oscillating between 900ish and 1100ish, or thereabouts. Never acts like it'll stall...
Yeah, the amp and antenna leads are both connected, at least in theory. Might have to do a bit of continuity testing⦠hopefully the amp isn't dead.
The harness for the pioneer had an illumination wire left over, I'll try hooking it up to the one from the red block and see what it does :)
By very quiet, I mean if I fade all the way to the rear, I have to crank it up and can BARELY hear anything from the rears still, and it's very muffled and rubbish.
I might look into wiring up the rears directly, though⦠wouldn't be a bad idea. Turns out I need to replace the driver side...
Ok, everything's all wired up and technically working, but the sub and rear speakers are very very quiet even when I fade all the way to the rear. Dead amp?
Awesome, thanks so much.
If we say for the sake of argument I were able to solder decently, is there any reason I couldn't solder an RCA to ISO myself if I didn't want to order another adapter? I'm guessing all I need to do is solder the outer barrel to negative and the pin to positive for...
So I got my Concert Cassette unit out to install a new Pioneer unit, and found some⦠oddities, in the wiring⦠when I removed the adapter to use the Blaupunkt CD changer in the back with the factory HU, I was left with this:
Judging by the antenna mount left on the windscreen, I'm...
This is⦠disconcerting. Either the light is broken, or has been disabled. I also noticed as it turned dark that the illumination is always on for the instrument cluster (but not the stereo, climatronic, etc). is that also abnormal?
