Think I know what you mean, round black thing with a small black peg in the middle. The small peg pushes in slightly then the big part pulls out with the small peg hanging in (hopefully)

Depending on your engine etc, but on most the pump is above the alternator. The same belt runs around them and the air con compressor. So passenger side right at the front of the engine. Follow the pipe from the reservoir.

No the pump didn't appear to have any damage, no noises or leaks. What I had read did seem to point to the pump. I also changed all the fluid with both replacement pumps. I'm thinking maybe you are right about the rack, maybe that is what is damaged but also killing the pumps I keep replacing...

The trim just pops out, I used my fingers but other people use a small blunt tool. Have you thought about wrapping it? Black to suit your bumper or carbon?

Maybe try getting the app for your phone (I use my phone) and see if it's any different to your head unit?

This is may sound like a daft question, but you are pressing the on button when it's in obd socket aren't you? I'm sure I just plugged it in and turned it on and read the ecu etc. Although you may have to "set a profile" for your car.
