Upper control arms done! Took 9 hours in workshop. One side was a ******* but nothing like the driver's side! Omg! It was ridiculous! Built some tools which helped and if I ever have to do someone else's car, it will be much quicker. Once 4 new tyres go on and it is MOT'd, it's having to go up...
Replacing upper control arms today. Got one done fine but the other side- oh my god. That twatting bolt! ! ! 5 hours of trying to remove it. Still not out!
Anyone know the cost of a replacement upright? Do all b7 models share the same one?
today I did full service, replaced diff oil and gearbox oil with filter. Also refurbed the front brakes to stop some noise. Completed a full pre mot check. Not bad for 4 hours! Still think I might sell it though.
Oh and going to put on 4 new tyres this week. :)
Hey all,
Got a couple of questions for you lot.
I put my B7 S4 onto a DynaPack dyno (hyb dyno) today to test out the dyno software and need a few pointers from anyone who might know.
Firstly, what is the diff ratios for the front/center/rear (ie final drive)? It is the tiptronic gearbox...
its a very quiet engine tbh! But thats a ****** about the belts. Good to note that if you start seeing a strong center line appearing on them - change them!
wheel bearings are a cnt. On the S4, i gave up when I couldnt get them out, so I got another garage to do them. Had to quite literally cut out the outer race from the housing. No problem refitting them with a bench press.
I had to remove the RNS-e to remove my ashtray unit from the S4 as I had some coins fall down the back and block the lid from moving correctly. While I was there, I cleaned up some wiring and found this behind the unit. I've never seen it before but it is wired into the headunit.
Any ideas?
VCDS doesnt help generally with high beams, as the car can only detect if the bulb is working or not. With bi-xenon, the bulb is always working.
But I have managed to solve the issue.
I had to remove the airbox completly to open up the rear main bulb compartment. Removed the xenon bulb...
I have an s4 which failed the mot today due to the drivers side headlight not going to high beam when the lights are on. The passenger side did. Disabled the passenger side light and I cannot hear the high beam plate moving. Can anyone help to find out why? Is there a fuse or anything?
Does anyone have a workshop manual that explains what air or vacuum pipes are on the front of the engine?
The reason I ask is on cold days like now, on first start there seems to be a leak from somewhere at the front making annoying sound. After 15-30 seconds it stops suddenly.
I believe it...
