Anyone have input on what to look for on one of these? I am very familiar with VW/Audi of the newer generation, but am lost when it comes to the earlier stuff.
I may be purchasing one as a daily driver. Any knowledge about the car, places to buy parts etc. would be great.
TIA
As you have discovered, it does reset the memory, but if the problem still exists, it will show the error still. This is only useful if it was an intermittent problem that you have fixed and just want to get rid of the light.
The one in the boot may be under or next to the spare where it is hard to see. You will find it in one of these places.
In the US, you can get a good idea based on model year, but elsewhere I am not sure.
According to the shop manual, you do use 75w90 synthetic. The factory already put synthetic in though. There is no recommended change interval, except for peace of mind.
Here is how much you need...
01E (6 spd Manual AWD) = 2.3 liters
01H (6 spd AWD Rr final drive) = 1.9 liters
Total to do...
I couldn't tell you which FMICs fit better or which offer better flow, but the idea with having one is that it gets LOTS of cold air at the front of the car. So it is more effective even if it was the same size as the SMIC. If you go too big you are going to have more turbo lag.
Good luck!
