    1.8t startup problems

I didn't. My brother had one laying around and said: change it and see what happens. I had my doubts anyway. I would have never guessed that the vibration is due to ECU...

    1.8t startup problems

So it's been 4 days since I have changed the ECU. So far the problem did not reappear and the vibration at idle is significantly dimmed.

    1.8t startup problems

I have put new spark plugs and other know good coils. Still have old coils though, but no difference. If it would be the MAF, why would only give bad info to ecu when cold? And it's not like it has time to heat up or something, cause in a matter of a minute or so the engine is back to normal.

    1.8t startup problems

So today it did it again. So it's not the SAI. Started the engine for aprox 1 min, then put it in gear and wanted to move. The engine stared to shake and turned it off. Switched it on again and then it worked fine.

    1.8t startup problems

Seconday air pump? The one that's pushing air into the exhaust? Hmm, I will try to unplug it, but it could be the secondary air valve(the one way valve) faulty. Thanks for the tip. Will check and let you know! @Asim1, high unlikely. If there were problems with injectors not being seated...

Anyone fitted an electric brake vac pump to the S3 , BAM [yet ?]

There is only 1 one-way valve between the manifold and servo. Check if it holds vacuum: shut off engine without applying brake, wait 10-20 minutes then remove the hose that goes to the servo. If you hear air rushing in, it's okay. If there is atmospheric pressure, then the valve is broken.

    1.8t startup problems

So the problem is now back. As the temperature is now close to 0 degrees, the engine barely starts in the morning. So, you turn the key, it fires up but it seems to be firing on 2 or 3 cylinders and it shakes a lot, or even stalls. Second or third start up and everything is back to normal. OR...

    2.5tdi intercooler retrofit

    So, basically I need to search for 078 145 806 for the right hand intercooler (plus bracket 078 145 814 D) and 058 145 805 for the left hand intercooler (plus bracket 4B0 145 813) ?

    2.5tdi intercooler retrofit

The 2.5tdi has the manifold pressure sensor on the intercooler, so I obviously have to move it. The 2.7 has the sensor in a 3 way intake connecting piece, so my best guess is that I should move the sensor in the intake manifold.

    2.5tdi intercooler retrofit

Hi guys, So I noticed my 2.5tdi AFB really struggles with power when the A/C is on, especially when outside is 30+ degrees and it got me thinking. Since the intercooler is sandwiched between the A/C radiator and the coolant radiator, I assume it's because the hot air coming from A/C is actually...

    1998 A6 2.5TDI V6 Cam Belt Kit

Really? To check the timing on 2.5TDI you need to remove the vacuum pump, the cap on the other side of the engine (under intake hose) and then insert the tool in crankshaft from underneath. 30mins of work, max.

Where exactly is the oil temperature sensor on a 1.9tdi

Hey, the oil temperature sensor is located on the oil pan, near the drain plug.

    My new C5 S6 Avant - V8 family car

I have read this whole thread and I have to say, nice work! Also, when you want to press the timing belt tensioner back in, you are supposed to apply firm pressure on it for 1-2 minutes. It will slowly go back in. You broke 2 allen bits because you were in a hurry :)

Did I ruin my VVT or have I got my cam timing wrong?

I find confusing counting the teeth, but in this picture it is clearly out of sync. The exhaust cam is one tooth jumped. You can take out the intake cam out(including the hall sensor), jump a tooth on the exhaust cam, then reinstall. This was, you don't need to touch the timing belt.

    1.8t vibrating at idle

So I have replaced the DMF with SMF and there is an improvement, but not as I imagined. Still vibrating, still annoying... During the job I checked the engine and gearbox mounts and seems fine to me. So, what to check next?

    1.8t vibrating at idle

I have no such thing on the air filter housing. But I have found the problem. It seems to be the DMF fail. With one wheel off the ground and in gear, this is the play in the flywheel:

    2.7 tdi timing belt

Thanks for the info. I will change it because the idler pulley is leaked and the mileage is 250k. As I've removed the front to repair the alternator, I think it's wise to change this as well. I've never heard of the crank pulley fail. I will look into it.

    2.7 tdi timing belt

Hello, I want to change the timing belt on a 2007 Audi A6 2.7 tdi. No, I'm not referring to the timing chains that are at the back of the engine, but the belt that drives the high pressure pump. Does it have to be aligned with some marks? Or it doesn't matter, as is just needed to be...

    1.8t vibrating at idle

No, it's not a misfire vibration. Also, that would throw an error code, but it doesn't. Do you have a picture of the said part? I don't know what are you referring to. @daniel, not sure. They seem fine to me, even the dogbone.
