Hi Qalaray My A3 is running really well after replacing the Turbo in January, I live in Manchester, It was done in St Helens which is not far away, at: Cowley Hill Services Limited 8 Cowley Hill Lane, St Helens. WA10 2AB. 01744454925 I actually got the quote from them by advertising on...

GUIDE: How to remove turbo and clean 'sticky' vane, which causes overboost

Earlier this year I got a quote of £160 to remove the turbo and clean the veins, when they took the turbo out the exhaust manifold (I think they called it) was knackered, and as it is integral with the turbo, it needed a new turbo, as the car was already stripped and the turbo out, they charged...

GUIDE: How to remove turbo and clean 'sticky' vane, which causes overboost

I'm happy for all the advice I can get, I have never used either garage, so it's not like I particularly trust either, the only one I use regularly is the VAG specialist for Servicing, who was quoting £800+ for the refurb, so won't be using them !!! The £160 quote garage looks ok, has decent...

GUIDE: How to remove turbo and clean 'sticky' vane, which causes overboost

Thanks for answers, I only look into cars when I'm buying one or have a problem !!! the VAG specialist sends the Turbo off to the refurbers who check it, then send a replacement back that has been refurbed, that's then fitted by the VAG specialist, its off the road for about a week which would...

GUIDE: How to remove turbo and clean 'sticky' vane, which causes overboost

Looking at the pictures I wouldn't have the confidence to give it a go and don't have the tools anyways, so would rather have a local garage in Manchester do it than risk causing more damage ! so if anyone can point me to a better local garage where I can get this done I'd appreciate it.

GUIDE: How to remove turbo and clean 'sticky' vane, which causes overboost

Looking at the code and the other threads, seems the turbo just needs cleaning rather than knackered, a refurb Turbo is being quoted around £800-£1000 fitted by my local Audi Garage VAG, so cleaning for £300+Vat and keeping original Turbo sounds better value, I thought if I got the Turbo...

GUIDE: How to remove turbo and clean 'sticky' vane, which causes overboost

Hi, My Audi 2008 A3 2.0TDI has the P0234 overboost engine code and is going into limp mode around 70mph in 5th/6th gear, resets when i stop/start the engine, its fine for normal road driving, just on motorway limp mode kicks in, so sounds like the 'sticky vains' problem on the Turbo, great...

    A3 08 Concert options

Hi Just bought an 08 A3, really happy with it, but looking at options for the stereo, the stereo is the standard 2 DIN Concert, it has a CD MP3 player and an AUX Port under the handbrake. The Bluetooth works really well with my Samsung S4 and I like the stereo controls on the steering and the...

Emission Control System warning light came on and stays on

Its not a good one, but most warranties exempt wear & tear, they did it half price when I bought the car, and I wanted decent cover as I wanted to keep the car a few years and it was fairly high mileage at 100K, it covers mechanical failure, not wear & tear, I didn't realise the Turbo was...

Emission Control System warning light came on and stays on

Having researched abit more, my car is an 08 140BHP, so I think its an 8P2 model, which does not have a DPF.

How can you tell if you have a DPF fitted?

Mine is 8P2 as it was registered May 2008, 08 Plate, 8P3 started June 2008, its the big grille, but I cannot tell difference in pics between 8P2 and 8P3 facelift model !!!! Thamks

How can you tell if you have a DPF fitted?

Yep, it's an 08 plate, registered May 08, so its 8P2 model, so no DPF, that's something I can rule out then. Thanks.

How can you tell if you have a DPF fitted?

I'd heard that, but I was told there would be allot of smoke from the exhaust which I'm not seeing. The Halfords repair centre gave me code P0234 when they connected to Diagnostics, they said thats booster overload, they said it was turbo related, but were not sure what would cause it without...

How can you tell if you have a DPF fitted?

Cheers, my sticker middle is: 103 KW M6S 04/08 BKD no mention of DPF, so I'm guessing its not a DPF. Just trying to rule things out for the power drop out.

How can you tell if you have a DPF fitted?

How can you tell if you have a DPF fitted?

Hi How can you tell if you have a DPF fitted? I have a May 2008 A3 2.0 TDI 140 Diesel, losing power at around 3000RPM and won't go higher in high gear 4-6, its ok in low gears 1-3, so wondering if it could be DPF? I cannot see any DPF light on the dash when i turn the ignition. Thanks

Emission Control System warning light came on and stays on

The warranty has exemptions on carbonisation of the Turbo and exhaust system through wear and tear, which i'm guessing the DPF would be?

Emission Control System warning light came on and stays on

Yeah, gonna drive it abit harder now, never realised the carbon builds uplike that in Diesels, I've driven petrol engines till now. The Audi manual states to drive the car at higher revs for about 15-20 mnutes if you get the DPF warning light to heat it up and burn the blockage off, seems scray...

Emission Control System warning light came on and stays on

I took the car to Halfords today as they have a link with my RAC warranty, they put it on the scanner and it came back P0234 - overboost condition rather than charge for the dianostics check as RAC warranty won't cover carbon build up in the turbo, they put in DPF Cleaner & Diesel System...
