Patience is the key, as others have said, at your budget it's a buyers market, ring a few older adverts, see what's sold and what hasn't. There's plenty of A3's around, especially in your price bracket, as most will only have done lowish miles.

Any money saved by doing it yourself you can put towards a VAG-COM cable (or whatever they are called now). I've not fitted it to an 8P, but did a B5 a while back, personally I enjoyed it and it didn't take too long, so would do it again for sure.

On the good side, it's low mileage. On the downside it's 2006 missing out on the 2007 facelift (I believe), personally I wouldn't pay 9.5k, especially in a private sale.

Better than buying one with no warranty and finding it needs a new head gasket :)
