    DPF Life

237,000 miles, wow. No need to worry then! While I do potter to the shops it's still a 10 minute run at above 40mph. And it does get proper runs. Aldershot, town of my birth and where I took my driving test. I'd have stayed in Cornwall :-)

    DPF Life

Anyone know where the ash loading can be found in VCDS? Tried following some guides online but all I get is the soot loading on my (full) VCDS cable. Car has been much better since the timing was sorted. It must have been smoking so much the filter couldn't regenerate. It's not done any...

    DPF Life

Hi, Was having a few issues with my A3 170 Quattro in constant regen which seems to have been sorted out by having the timings changed. Car running far better and garage said it would have been smoking at low revs thereby clogging up the DPF. They indicated to me that the carbon mass in the...

Backlight on right hand side of dash flickering

2008 170 Quattro. On these cold mornings part of the dash backlight has started flickering. Seems to be 1 or 2 lights on the right of the speedo. Everything else is fine. As the car warms up the problem goes away. Bad connection somewhere? I've heard about the light switch rheostat going but...

    Odd electrical fault - Indicators

Something odd going on. Scanned it 3 times now. Each time it can't connect to different modules. Things like different doors going AWOL, the engine!, Auto HVAC and Cent Elect. Why would different modules go AWOL each time I scan? It's VCDS 15.7 on a genuine cable. Cable/software or is...

    Odd electrical fault - Indicators

It's going into the indie for a service next week anyway so they've said they'll look at it. In daylight I may have a go at it with some contact cleaner. I've only had time for a scan in the dark and didn't fancy starting to poke around (I'm always expected to fix these problems in the dark!)...

    Odd electrical fault - Indicators

Hi, The indicators in my wife's A3 (1.4 petrol 2012 plate) started acting up today. Turning left is fine, but turning right the car may briefly flash the right indicators but then starts flashing left (as if you had selected left) If you just tap it right for lane changing it works fine. Did...

Interesting door lock issue (with a fix)

This is fairly common. I had a problem myself with my front door a couple of weeks ago with a broken wire. Soldered the broken wire back up and then used a glue gun to cover the new join over (it needs strength to stop it happening again and insulation tape will just move around as the door...

    MOT Advisory

My cam belt + water pump was £325 last year fitted at a local VAG indie run by two ex VW mechanics*. All genuine parts. In fact another time when my fan packed up they ended up having to get it from the stock of the main dealer as they were the only people who had one at short notice. Wasn't a...

VCDS Error - 00470 - Combination comfort Databus in Single Wire

After investigating this, it was a broken CANBUS wire in the drivers door. Soldered it back together and covered it in hot glue to be getting by. In the long term the loom will need replacing as my repair won't hold out for ever.

VCDS Error - 00470 - Combination comfort Databus in Single Wire

Scanned my 170 last night and had this error come up (this is after I cleared it just to check if it came back: Address 19: CAN Gateway Labels: 1K0-907-530-V3.clb Part No SW: 1K0 907 530 Q HW: 1K0 907 951 Component: J533__Gateway H16 0202 Revision: H16 Serial number...

    VCDS ???

Apologies. I just found the little bit of paper they put in with the package as an afterthought. It doesn't say what I said at all. Instead it says not to power the laptop from an in car charger or an inverter connected to the car. Sorry for the misinformation.

    VCDS ???

More than that. They advise you do not use a mains powered computer as it can create a ground loop and damage the car and computer. The computer must be on batteries.

    TYRES TYRES TYRES!

Got 4 of these Dunlops on order to be fitted next week. The two on the front they are replacing are Nexen N8000's that were a distress purchase due to a type rupture 200 miles from home 20 months ago. While they wouldn't be my first choice, if I was looking to put tyres on for 6 months ahead of...

Leaking washer fluid, front right bumper

That's the technique I was using. 7 hours later my hand is still sore from hitting it! Buttom right clip just won't go in. Something isn't quite right. Possibly it was never on properly to begin with. I used a glue gun and also double wrapped. But the break was quite big. It's no longer...

Leaking washer fluid, front right bumper

Repair hasn't held. Appears it's on the high pressure side of the pump. Good news is at least it's now not spraying high pressure water all over the horn and fog light but is now a more controlled straight down drip. However the real problem was getting the fog surround back on. Still haven't...

Leaking washer fluid, front right bumper

Back home now. Just spent an hour (yes an hour) trying and failing to get the front front fog surround off. Thanks to another post on this forum I discovered that the instructions in the car manual are useless and what you need to do is give it a firm and sharp tug. Third attempt it came off...

Leaking washer fluid, front right bumper

Cheers. I'll have a look at getting the fog surround out when we get back (and I have my own tools to hand). For now it can just all leak out. I figure a few days won't hurt it. Cheers.

Leaking washer fluid, front right bumper

On holiday at the moment and we've taken my wife's 2010 1.4TFSI which we've only had a week. Today it's started leaking washer fluid from the front right from the front of the wheel arch. This may possibly be related to her driving to far forward yesterday in a car park so the front of the...
