Ok, so long time no talk from myself, been busy with work and after a bwm thought it would be a good idea to drive into me followed by a stone cracking the windscreen. And autoglass not playing fair.

Regarding the Temp gauge I would check the Sensor is ok and doesn't need cleaning / replacing, the Fuel gauge is it over-reading? or under-reading the amount of fuel in the car?
If the screen works someone but not others I would guess its a "loose" connection I'm guessing the screen is coming on when it is being driven and goes over a bump,
The A4's are taken off the same feed as the mirrors, so should be able to tap into that, and yes they are always on which is why it's known for the heated washers to burn out after a while,
When you switch your car on the yellow will probably be 'Ok' and the first red screen will probably be "service" regarding the light coming on when reaching a set speed hold down the button next to the clock and you should get a display on the screen indicating it has switched off.
Does the radio belong to the audi? Or is it a replacement? If it is the original disconnect the battery on the car for 10-15 minutes, as the symphony should then re-code it's self to the car.
if not, PM me over the serial number and I'll dust off the old code generator.
Does just the red one come up? or also the abs one as-well? - Also have you checked the fluid level? A light and a Beep normally means Fluid level issues.
Have a look at Nexxia Quality Audio Video Wall Plates, Car Audio, Audio Video cables (m)
They are pretty good for ISO connectors and Pins

The dash cluster is the same as the 1.9, 1200 in 14 months for someone who just used it to go to the shops and back is reasonably at a push.. Reset your mileage counter and drive a mile according to the satnav and see what comes up on the cars counter, as could be an underlying issue somewhere.
