Due to the large front brakes you have to be careful with offsets on the front. A lot of wheel designs need a low offset to clear them. I run a 19*8.5 ET37 and they only just clear the brakes on the front. It all depends on the wheel design.
If you do the downpipe yourself be very careful as there is a special procedure to take the prop out. There is quite a few garages who have even got this wrong and ended up charging people for a brand new one.
As said above I expect its pad deposits on the disk. Have you given the car a really hard stop to try and clean them up a bit? I run ds performance as well. :)

You are correct. You don't need rails to have a roof rack. As said above the Thule ones are good. I have one for my mrs Q2 and one for my TT and neither of those have roof rails. :)
