    Camshaft Drive Belt

Thanks! I was confused why it was called a toothed belt in the 60,000 mile section, but a camshaft drive belt everywhere else.

    Camshaft Drive Belt

Hi all, I was looking at the service schedule booklet, as I have passed the 115,000 mark now. Does anyone know what the “camshaft drive belt” refers to? I assume the “toothed belt” item refers to the timing belt. It also says to change the Poly-V belt at the same time, which I believe is the...

    Should gearstick return to neutral

Does it spring back to neutral from 6th? There is a spring that is attached to the bottom of the gear stick, one side returns the stick to neutral from 5/6, and the other side does 1/2. It looks something like this: http://workshop-manuals.com/volkswagen/golf-mk4/images/golf-mk4-4665.png

    Should gearstick return to neutral

Never driven a car that didn't pop the gearstick back into neutral. Does this sound similar to your problem? https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/new-a3-sportback-gearbox-problems.188173/

Leak between oil filter and engine

It's a 2005 model, I've had it for around 8 years now. I took it into the garage today, and they found that one of the oil filter housing gaskets had gone bad. I reckon there's been a small leak there for years now.

Leak between oil filter and engine

Hi all, I've had a slow leak for around a year now. I've taken the undertray off and given the sump a wipe down. Left it overnight and noticed a trickle of oil coming from between the oil filter area and the engine. I raised the front using a makeshift ramp and left the engine running for...

    Steering wheel question

Hi, I'm looking at getting a replacement steering wheel, but I want to carry on using my existing airbag. Does anybody know the part numbers what I can look out for? Maybe with and without multifunction controls? My wheel is: 8P0 419 091 BJ TNA No paddles I guess that I can't just get any...

Ah yes, I meant 50 tracks per folder. So I can have 6*50= 300 tracks.

    Symphony 2 + Connects2 CTAADUSB003 issue

Hi guys, Wonder if anyone else has experienced this issue. I have the CTAADUSB003 USB/SD/AUX box from Connect2 connected into the CD changer port of my Symphony 2 stereo (mini ISO version). However it only plays odd numbered tracks. So, if I have 4 songs on my SD card, it will play them as...

    Help installing Xcarlink....

That adapter looks correct. Your blue connector should slide into the adapter's green/yellow end, and then the adapter should go between the top black connection and the back of your stereo. Then, as smurfworth said, ground onto the head unit.

    Hanging Pedal

Yeah my previous car had a hanging pedal. There wasn't much difference in general use, but yeah I like the look of the bigger pedal much more!

    Hanging Pedal

Ahh such a shame... I was pretty surprised when I saw it, thought that the floor mounted one really suited the A3.

    Hanging Pedal

I was looking at photos of the 8V (I have an 8P), and noticed that the cars I've seen all have a little hanging accelerator pedal instead of the bigger floor mounted pedal on the 8P. Are there any 8V's that have a floor mounted one?

    Bonnet catch broken!

Yeah that's right, the plastic lever underneath the bonnet. The lever moves, but it feels like I'm just bending the plastic. It does sound like the same problem as that thread, but I've tried the suggestion in there with no joy :/

    Bonnet catch broken!

So, I was changing my indicator bulbs today and decided to open up the bonnet to get a better look. The lever inside the cabin releases the bonnet fine, but then the little catch that you have to push underneath the half open bonnet seems to be broken. Is it possible to manually open the...
