i dont know. I just know it was changed before i got the car, an can see the chain has been touched, also shows its reading as tight, so guess was not done correctly. striping down should not be a problem, just need know what to look for.
Saying loads of info on r32 fourms dont help, i dont...
I've have had a problem with me motor an from what I can tell its the timing chain tensioner. I have done stuff like this before just not on this engine an want to get it right. am I looking for as much info to do it myself pictures, torque settings, tips what too look for what Not to do.

Thanks for the reply daver555. you could be right its the only thing left, an i get a warning via the computer readout for it... just audi did say too me that it was fine as was not that 90% sure, why i have not had it done yet. But its saying the chain is too tight by -1
also get a missfire on...
Ok tock it off give it a good clean then let it rest by start getting the dash lights on a waiting 2 min, seems the same but, as went slow over a round about was like i put me foot on the peddle an well nothing happend yet then was fine after. like it was starved of fuel or air, also i have...
Ok been driveing the car now the miss fire now seems very random like 1 min i can stop at lights the revs are at 750 more looking an runing fine with no missfire, think after i give it a good boot. then 10 min later will be about 600-500 *** an will get the odd miss, when more cruseing. Have...
Fitted the new bit an the miss fire is still there, From what i can tell its number 6 that doing it.
The only thing I can think of it being is the injectors. what else would cause a miss on 1 cylinder no:6 changed plus an coil pack.
I did as you said an only way i got the spark plug gap was by looking at the plugs preset. But often there preset is wrong that is why i was asking also pugs will change in sight slightly so knowing the correct gap you can easy set back. when i said i did a serarch it was just this site an only...
Anyone know how the exhaust flap works an how to test it? I can manually close it.
Also what is the correct sparkplug gap?
I did a site search for type of plugs an gap but only found for older models.
An 1 other question to do with the engine to exhaust metal earth strap hanger thing. what...
Thanks for the reply Shariain but i have had it scaned as i have said in the first post. Only problem is that the timeing chain is -1 else that is fine. The dealer tryed changing plugs with no luck etc.
But have found the bracket for the engine to exhaust (earth strap) just above the probes...
No replys were you all go!
I was thinking of changing the lambdas probes were the ecu has just been updated, an a bit of the update i think was for the lambda probes. could this be a cause. also am noticeing like a black carbon build up on the botton on the exhaust as it comes out the back an am...
The ecu update has made the car more nippy an low revs, but if you drive the car above 2k revs and cruse say in 4th gear not 6th in low speed areas. I get better mpg but have noticed I get about 5mpg more since the update, now doing 25 mpg in town.
I was told the plugs were changed when I got...
taken it to audi as planed an they have done the ECU update, it cost 60 + vat, also they said there was a auto gearbox update but mine was manual so not done.
The missfire was still there its like every 10-20 sec i'll get a single miss. I have now started looking at other thing e.g changed the...
Well once its done I will let you know, I'm also going to change the fuel filter. I have not look for it yet but is it under the car by the drivers rear wheel or is that the pump?
After 2 weeks at the, Trader I got the car back. They said there is nothing wrong!! yet you can hear the missfire, so am taking more action towards them. I have the car booked in to Audi for the ECU update on friday. They are looking at charging me for 30min so will be about £70. But am going...
