Group Interest? IHI Manifold for longitudinal 1.8t layout

I wouldnt trust them stainless manifolds. Ive seen them both up close and I can tell you that the quality is SHAT. Welds are bad, collection areas are worse, and to top it all off, the metal used is thin walled - prone to cracks and heat stress.

    Larger MAF housing

Thanks for your input Rich. As you might have guessed, the reason why I have decided to make a larger housing is because of the larger turbo I have. T-03 "P" trim with 0.64 turbine, 0.86 compressor housing (huge both ends). It has the ability to flow upwards of 400hp (as custom built by my...

    Larger MAF housing

Thanks guys. Still a long way off sorting out a few niggling problems with it. I had a close look at my FPR and its stamped with 4bar. I thought this was a little too high? Any ideas? If I need to bump up my fuel pressure in order to counter the air density reading change, then I think...

    Larger MAF housing

I got some pics of the MAF housing and the quality of the stainless steel. They can be found at: http://www.ozaudi.com/nuke/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=thumbnails&album=214 Im not sure how to post pictures on here.

    Larger MAF housing

Helping me out a little. You say that the actual pressure the reg. works at is stamped to the side of the cannister? If so, then should make things easy. If not, then looks like I'll have to enquire about it with my "friend" who has the ETKA program....

    Larger MAF housing

Maths? I failed that in Secondary Schooling!! If the normal OD for the MAF (standard) is 3", my OD is 3.5". So the difference (that I can pick) is roughly 60%. Is this correct or am I calculating things in a different matter? Mind you, Im trying to calculate overall flow difference rather...

    Larger MAF housing

Ok. So I need a tighter FPR to compensate fuel pressure due to lower air mass sensitivity. I kinda knew that this was needed, but didnt realise that it was also necessary for use at idle without any engine load whatsoever. Ok. This should be an easy fix for me. As for Fuel Pressure, am I...

    Larger MAF housing

Hi all. So I took the plunge and decided to fabricate a larger MAF housing. The decision came after reading (on other forums and websites) that noticeable gains can be found after such modification. On a few American websites, there are larger ID MAF housings for sale, which is why I took...

    its broken

It doesnt take technical ability - what has happened is the pressed collector flange has obviously failed and has caused the main part of the exhaust to come away. This is an easy fix if you know someone who can weld. Just take off the collector flange, cat (may require test pipe/front pipe...

Fully Programmable VS Piggyback ECU (LONG THREAD)

I thought that this thread would ignite some positive and interesting feeback. C'mon guys, lets hear your thoughts about it. Afterall, each and everyone of us has had an idea of one or the other at some time.

Fully Programmable VS Piggyback ECU (LONG THREAD)

The topic has been discussed and thrown around here a few times but there have really been no real answers as to what to do / which way is better in terms of value for money. The story is this: I have no real ambitions in to having my standard ECU chipped/remapped/flashed/{insert funky word...

MAF element - where to find for Cable Driven AEB

Rich Where is this ECS place located, and, do they have an on-line shop? I'd love to have the web address if possible. Thanks

MAF element - where to find for Cable Driven AEB

Hello Peoples, Anyone here know where I can shop on-line to find the MAF element / sensor for a 96 A4 TQ with the AEB motor? We dont have anything which supplies them here in Australia for a reasonable price. Try $800AU from Audi themselves. Any suggestions / web-sites would be...

    Solution to "Bouncy" Idle

If you cant remember, I have a 96 A4 TQ with turbo upgrade to t-03/28 which is similar to the GT28RS kit, only bigger! For a few months before and after the turbo upgrade, I noticed that the motor would oscilate between 400 - 1000 rpm either on idle, or just after stopping at a set of traffic...

    Boost queries

With the k03 factory setup with complete factory exhaust system (albeit a nice rear muffler), the car was doing exactly the same thing, just not at the same frequency. The ECU is standard and eveything else is pretty much the same way the factory made it.

    Boost queries

My problem is such (ill paint the picture so you can get an idea of what is shi***ng me to no end!) Tests were done at full Wide Open Throttle (in a fully controlled environment): 1996 A4 Turbo Quattro 1st gear 900-6900 rpm @ 16psi at WOT (awesome feeling) 2nd gear - 2700-6900 rpm @ 16/17psi at...

    Manifold Boost Pressure Switch

If anyone out there knows where (or even if) there is a pressure switch apart from that nasty N-75 boost regulator switch any where else on the intake manifold or elsewhere in the motor, can you please let me know! Yesterday the ECU stopped the motor from making 18 p.s.i just because it wanted...

    Upgraded Turbo Pics (T-28/03)

engine cover is sprayed by yours truly. took roughly half a day including primer and light (and i emphasise light) sanding. easy to do. look closely and youll see that its not finished - red paint overspray on the black strip where the badge is.

    Upgraded Turbo Pics (T-28/03)

I got some pics together of the turbo install on my '96 A4 TQ. I know that the car doesn't look like much at the moment, but, considering that it has 260 hp with the turbo, boost and intake/exhaust mods, alot of the RICE WRX boys out there find it hard to keep up! Enjoy.

    Fuelling Problem?

ZeroK66 You may have a vacuum leak somewhere in your intake system after the throttle body causing the odd idle. Best thing really is to get it hooked up to a VAG system and check all the engine codes etc. Seeing as you have changed the coolant sensor, not sure what to suggest. Is the car the...
