Thanks for the comments.....car still pulls like a train so maybe I have a bit of time to save up the £750+. I am careful to allow for warm up and cooling, maybe not enough though. Yes, does seem to be a BKD genetic fault !

From all the helpful posts it seems that my '07 2.0 TDi will very soon need a replacement turbo as its making the dreaded siren noise - please can you advise where I should get one from...I've seen good comments for Universal Turbos and for Midland Turbos. ??..all comments appreciated......please.

Bought an A3 2.0 TDI 2007 with 79k on the clock last week - Looked great and test drove with no obvious faults....Garage did a sales service (oil & filters) and I drove away happy. 55 miles later oil light on....oil filter O ring not seated correctly and oil pumping out....had to drive 8 miles...
