Hey guys,
Problem: Have a very annoying rattle when the radio is on (more noticable with voice not music), seems 90% of it stops when i put a finger on the the speaker grill on the dashboard (centre towards the window, past the air vents)
Solution: Yes please! Its geting worse so guess its...
Problem for me seems to be the lint cloths lose, brought some supposed lint free ones but the second it hit my dash I realised they should be done for false advertising, it was everywhere!!
anyone know a good source for a few decent cloths?!
I tried the stuff tesco sell, a dash sponge called 'dash bright'. AVOID makes the surface horrible and shiny, had to get a microfiber cloth out with some water to get it off.
Yet to find a cloth/cleaner that does the top dash well, it's like sandpaper that surface.... eats through cloths!!!
Cant be too much help but before I went for a new one I was looking at 2007 black ed A3 170's and they were a lot more than £10k, around £16k at least.
I'm not sure exactly what the material is, its a flexible material with an almost polystyrene feel to it, its tough though. Will have a look tonight to see if there's a part no. mate.
I get around 50mpg (am yet to go on a motorway!) but got more like 40mpg on my first tank before I switched the aircon off, also the mpg goes up quite a lot as the tank gets lighter!
Obviously gallons are different in the US to the UK and that can be adjusted in the DIS so with some fiddling...
I really wish my car had auto lights/dimming/wipers. Is an ex demo so couldn't choose but rather be without those than wait 7 months for delivery like i read someone else did
I got a boot liner dirt tray with my A3 as it was an ex demo (along with rubber mats), can see if there's a part number on it if you'd like?
As linked above mine is the £34 one, the £42 one is for quattro models...
Well they did an ok job.
Still though when you run your finger over it its rough to touch and just doesn't shine as a smooth surface.
Tempted to insist my dealer pay for this:
Acid Stripping and Powder Coating :
Do you think tht would be worthwhile?
Cheers!
They have redone it but cant say I'm hopeful on the results, will post pictures once I've picked it up and you lot can tell me if I'm just being a picky git
Success! Thanks to Rob for sending me the part to try, I ended up using that as it worked perfectly first time.
now if only I could get it to light up too :-)
For anyone who ever wants to do something similar with the latest A3's this is how:
