... and so ends his A6 rebuild project ;)
(nah, not really... it's only after you have a couple that you pretty much completely lose the ability to do anything but survive for a while :) )
Congrats on the new person!
Just to confirm, I have the non-adaptive xenons on my A6, and the xenon lamp is indeed used for both high and low beam... the inner projector lamps are just used as daytime running lights.
My question is what sort of crazy-*** car lets you pull the key from the ignition while its running?! I cannot recall ever owning a single vehicle that let me do that!
Edit: Derp... I get it now... is this one of those newfangled "keyless" fob jobbies with starter button? It just doesn't feel...
Back in my day, we got told to shut up and count **** out the window... *mumble mumble whippersnappers mumble*
Nice use of the pi though . My solution thus far has been Android tablets, cig socket chargers, and a USB-powered portable router with USB storage.
I think you'll find it may not be a problem with the engine, but rather that is just the way the gearbox behaves (even when in good condition)... my experience with multitronics is that they lag and lag and lag and lag (and lag some more) and then boom, you're off!
I can recall at least a...
I fitted a H+R arb kit to my 3.0 Le Mans Avant, and it made a massive difference! I run with the front set on "soft" and the rear on "hard" (although, in truth, you don't get to chose whether you want to run the rear hard or not - see here...
The only thing I have ever come across for doing front camber on our model (C6) is these K-MAC Suspension Camber and Caster adjuster kits to suit Audi
Sadly, there seems to be pretty mixed feedback about them (AudiWorld forums in the States), and much anecdotal evidence that they lose their...
DPF removal definitely requires a new map, as you need to disable the "check engine" warning that the removal will trigger, as well as tell the ECU to stop doing regeneration cycles (i.e. spewing fuel into the exhaust every several hundred miles to burn off the accumulated soot).
The benefits...
Ouch, that is going to sting, and I feel for you... facing having to spend almost 50% of the worth of the vehicle to repair it is galling to say the least :(
Who diagnosed it, out of interest? If it was an Audi dealership, then there may be a chance you could still repair rather than replace...
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if you are "lucky", the box hasn't eaten itself to bits, but either the gearbox controller has packed it in, or the clutch packs are knackered.
Either way, it is not very cheap to fix, and there is no guarantee that it won't barf up a lung again after...
Well, for 3G basic to high, its probably along similar lines in terms of swapping hardware and wiring (different screen, hard drive instead of DVD-ROM) ... and if its not "basic" to begin with, it should already have 3D maps (possibly requiring a software update to get there?)
Multi Media...
I think it basically involves gutting the interior, cutting holes in bodywork, and other wonder stuff... I would personally file it under "eff that" and look for a vehicle with MMI High already fitted (but I can't imagine any Le Mans would come with MMI Basic... wouldn't make sense given it is...
Sounds quite well spec'd for an SE... I personally would constantly furrow my brow at both the wheels and the gap under the arches, and would cave, and tart it up with some wheels myself :)
As far as making it a bit more lively to drive, I reckon a cheeky remap or tuning box and fatter...
I agree with BahnStormer here. A big reason to opt for an S-Line or Le Mans is the specifications... they are usually loaded with equipment that would be foolishly expensive to try and retrofit (like seats, sound system, nav, xenons, etc).
Honestly, I would shop based on other factors such as...
I'm sure everyone here loves that special time of year when your renewal letter drops through the front door... but I am pleased to say I made it through this year's Total Insurance Wipeout with a rather pleasing result!
A big thankyou to Martin at Chris Knott for being very helpful and...
Yeah, I very nearly jumped at some top-shelf coilovers when I did mine (i.e. Bilstein B16 or KW V2), but decided against it due to weighing the large price differential and the possible risk that my wife and kids would hate me for smashing their spines to a pulp if it turned out I could not set...
Hey rajsta,
In case you still care, I did swap out my S-Line suspension for Eibach Pro springs (should be similar to H+R Sport in height... Super Sport or Race springs would be a little lower again), so you can eyeball the stance in these pics...
Hi Funkyfin,
Sorry I can't speak to specific problems with the facelifted cars, as mine is a 2007, but I would reckon the key issues to look for would still be play in the manifold/swirl-flap linkages, and that damn rear washer pipe that runs over the amp rack in the rear quarter (left side). I...
This seems to be a real pitfall when dealing with any parts suppliers that don't hold actual stock (as in "can you walk over to a shelf and get them in your hand right ****** now?!") What brand are the coils? My "Knobheads of the Century" award goes jointly to Bilstein and H+R...
Waited 5...
