Don't put across pos and negative that will blow the meter It's in amps and meter goes inline of pos i. e one lead on pos lead one on battery . And make sure it's running with what ever load your desire to measure. Check the rating of the meter first.

As cambelts go i think 300-350 with a full kit and water pump is about right if that helps dude.

If all else fails try some temp cover from tempcover.com i had the same issue in feb and the temp cover was only 28 quid for a month on the old car which sat until sold.

Little towards the pulling left and not driven straight i had that little when i first brought my motor and it was a seized caliper on the rear might be worth checking.
