Hope the OP doesn't mind but rather than start another thread I thought it might be useful to ask questions in an existing thread. Currently own a B7 170TDI Avant.
Anyways, I finally got a test in an RS4 on Tuesday. Arguably it wasn't the greatest example but I needed to know how it feels...
On my mothers B7 the heater readings have all changed. Like my B7 it started with Lo then 16 up to about 26 then Hi
But now it starts at 5 and goes up to 77
What's happened here then?
The blower also sounds quite loud on like two bars - more like mine when its on 5 or 6 bars.
Any ideas.
^^^This is good to know. I've been very tempted with going doing the mod route with my 170. I discussed the options with darkside but the costs involved did make me wonder whether it was truly worth it.
I came to the conclusion that £3K or £4K would better be spent on an old scooby to rag about...
My car used to have coming home lights when unlocking at night but I've noticed last week or so this has stopped happening.
Is there anything I can do other than plugging the car into VCDS (which I don't have)
Have to be honest, I'd rather put the money towards having the DPF mapped out and just taking off the EGR cooler and the EGR itself. It's what I've done.
My car failed it's MOT today because the front tyres have inner wall damage down to the braiding.
I've got 19" 3SDM 0.01 with 235/35/19 on the front and 255/30/19 on the back. Tyres are Kumho Ecsta Its been lowered on Eibachs. Can't remember by how much.
Anyone got any suggestions what to do...
Thanks ESD1711 - the stamp mark next to where the wheels has "Inset" stamped on it looks the same as the stamp mark above for the ET. I'm hoping that although the stamp mark for the PCD has got to be wrong - I've not used adapters to mount the wheels - the stamp for the ET is correct.
One day...
Is the 112 and 120 the distance between the bolts? If so then if the wheels really were 5x120 they just physically wouldn't fit?
Looking on the 3SDM website I'm hoping the ET stamped on the wheels is correct - it's either 32 or 42 front - 35 or 40 rear. Is there any way to check?
Couple of weeks ago I hit something on the motorway that took out both wheels on the offside of the car.
I'm trying to arrange replacements but its proving difficult to nail down the fitment and offset.

I've been...
I know this is an old thread but I've noticed my 170 smoking a bit when I first start it. I tend to start the car about 10 mins before leaving the house in the morning and when going to the car it does seem to be a bit smokey - more so than I remember anyway.
Smoke looks a bit blue too but not...
Small update.
Box was taken apart early this week and theory is the flywheel seized and snapped the main shaft.
Cheapest option right now is a recon box so its being taken to somewhere in Bristol for the box to be fitted.
The RAC dude plugged one of their gadgets in and it just said clutch.
Its been slowly getting worse for months now. At the start of the year she had been told it was likely on its way out. I drove it a couple of weeks ago and was surprised how bad it sounded.
Oil in the box hasn't been changed...
My mothers B7 auto went pop on Friday morning. I was behind her in mine and it just died. When the ignition is on the letters flash red and it just revs irrespective of wear the stick is.
Bit disappointing considering she doesn't drive the car hard and its not even done 100K.
Can anyone...
A while back there was a lad on here making up looms to fit puddle lights into the doors and I think the ones in the dash and front seats?
Anyone know if these are still available? Or if there is a guide with all the required parts to buy?
Many thanks
Is there any chance you could link what parts you've purchased off ebay for the TV and tuner?
Seen one media input on ebay but its like £380 - is that what I'm looking for if I want to do this?
Also - with the twin input could you have one input for TV and one for rear camera? Always wanted...
