2005 A3 TDI - pile of fault codes

Got the old turbo, just looks, dirty... :) Still working fine after a week, so think it's reasonable to say sticking vanes was the issue.

2005 A3 TDI - pile of fault codes

Had the new turbo fitted yesterday, had to wait until this morning to have the car nice and cold. Pleased to say that the fault has now gone and the car doesn't go into limp mode under the same test circumstances as before.. Fingers crossed it's all sorted!! Thanks for all the help on this. Tim.

2005 A3 TDI - pile of fault codes

Thanks for the info, I'll make sure to ask about the turbo condition when it comes off. I've got the specialist to do the work as the AA warranty will only cover a max labour charge of £39.60 ph and it's a 3.5 hour job (according to some guidelines..) I'll double check that all the relevant...

Yes, that makes sense. I've got a new turbo being put on under warranty next Thursday. I'll post the results up, hopefully with good news! Cheers

2005 A3 TDI - pile of fault codes

I spoke to the AA warranties regarding the EGR & throttle valves, unsurprisingly, they aren't covered. Wanted to to hit the Turbo last as I didn't want to give the warranty company the excuse of 'try this, try that'. At least I can honestly say (and backup with receipts) that other 'potential'...

2005 A3 TDI - pile of fault codes

Appreciate all the advice! My car is back in at the garage for some replacement bushes on Wendesday, so I'll get them to have a look at the wastegate actuator and any other 'pipeage' that could have leaks (Although I'll be annoyed if they haven't looked at this already). I've been doing a bit...

2005 A3 TDI - pile of fault codes

Another update. Managed to get hold of a 'VENT BLOCK' part id: 6Q0 906 625 E from Audi Sheffield this morning for £138. Fitted it all OK, noticed that the filters were a little 'black' on the one I removed. I also applied some contact cleaner to the MAF for good measure, although it looked...

2005 A3 TDI - pile of fault codes

No offence taken NHN. When I discussed the problem with the garage, they sounded convincing on the approach to take and to be fair, i've had work done from them in the past that gives confidence they know what they are on about. They did also make it clear it was trial and error as there were...

2005 A3 TDI - pile of fault codes

OK, bit of an update. I've had the car into a specialist and took a printout of this thread. The engineer took the the car for a drive and replicated the fault, had the car go into limp mode and suggested a replacement EGR valve & Throttle valve which I have had done - cost to me, £400'ish...

2005 A3 TDI - pile of fault codes

OK, I've managed to get another scan done tonight - I've only pasted the 'engine' fault as this is the one to worry about right now. The new 'fault'. Address 01: Engine Labels: 03G-906-016-BKD.lbl Part No SW: 03G 906 016 DT HW: 028 101 189 2 Component: R4 2,0L EDC 0000AG 7000...

2005 A3 TDI - pile of fault codes

Thanks NHN, you are right in that I have had the car go into limp mode (can't drive above 40 and the RPM is limited), also, it has ALWAYS happened when going up hills (we cannot avoid this as we live in a hilly part of the world). So, I'll arrange to get another check done - what do you...

2005 A3 TDI - pile of fault codes

Not sure anything ever got left on, but hey, the wife drives it mainly so could have. I'll keep monitoring as I don't want to have to buy a new battery if it is just down to an avoidable drain. Thanks!

2005 A3 TDI - pile of fault codes

will do - I'll arrange for them to be cleared and let it run for a week before posting the results. So, is the battery potentially unhealthy? Many thanks!

2005 A3 TDI - pile of fault codes

Hi All, I have a 2005 A3 2.0 TDI DSG - I had friend do a report on error codes for paranoia. I'm surprised to find this little lot, especially as it's just been in for a service and I specifically asked them to check for any faults. I was told there were none. Any help on any of these...

    A3 2.0 TDI, difficult starter

Hi all, Just a quick update, I had new glow plugs put in yesterday - needed to leave the car overnight as starting problems are from 'cold' only. Tried this morning, turned over fine, fired up, and then stalled... started fine on the second attempt. So it seems that the problem is still...

Will be looking into this further over the next few weeks, so will let you guys know the outcome. Thanks for the replies. Tim.

    A3 2.0 TDI, difficult starter

I'll look at getting the glow plugs changed first then - the cars done 90k and looking through the history it looks as though they haven't been swapped before. I don't notice any black smoke at all, hopefully it will just be the plugs. Is there a guide somewhere for changing the plugs...

    A3 2.0 TDI, difficult starter

Hi All, I've had an '05 2.0 TDI for around a month and it always seems to struggle to start when it's been raining. It will attempt to fire up quite quickly, but will only start proper on the 3rd / 4th attempt. I am waiting for the preheat lamp to go out each time. I've got an AA warranty...

    2005 A3 brochure needed..

Hi all, I'm picking up an '05 2.0 TDI DSG Sportback this weekend and can't wait! I've got a little issue though in that i'm sorting out my insurance and I know that there are options on the car (uprated stereo & seats) that aren't standard. I need a brochure from 2005 to help me decipher...
