Driving to Germany, A3 2.0 TDI Engine Emissions class?

I have a 2004 A3 2.0 TDI 140 Sport. In December I'm driving over to Germany. I've got winter tyres and everything else sorted. I will be visiting Cologne and want to enter the LEZ. From 1st July, only diesel cars with a Euro Emissions class 4 engine or better can receive a green sticker to...

    Best Headlights..?

Just to add another option, I've got some Autolamps Cobalt II bulbs fitted. They did well in an Auto Express bulb test, and have made a massive difference over the standard bulbs on my car. Much brighter and whiter looking. They come with free matching sidelights bulbs too. The H7 bulbs are also...

A3 Diesel - Roof Rails And Engine

I have a 3 door A3 and use Thule roof bars and fitting kit. The front kit sits under the door seals, and the rear goes under the rear window seals where there is 2 small black lines in the windows. It all fits on fine and as long as you set it up properly on first installation, takes about 20...

New Car Or Stick With 11 Year Old A3??

Hi guys, looking for some opinions/ideas from all and a bit of financial wisdom! I have a 53 plate A3 2.0 TDI sport, 72k miles on clock, FSH, cambelt done in 2011. I own the A3 outright, have done for a few years, and have enjoyed the car alot. Recently I have been thinking about getting a new...

A3 fuel filter confusion and bulbs

I am having my A3 serviced next week, and doing my air and fuel filters myself afterwards. I have done the air filter before, and read the fuel filter change isnt too involving. I've come to order the fuel filter, and there seems to be several different sizes, all seemingly correct for my car...

MPG after remap 2.0 TFSI dsg

Fair enough mate. I do miss the smoothness of a petrol sometimes, but cant have it all ha! Motech are based in Northampton, but they may be able to come to you. My friend has had an A4 DTM remapped by them and rates them highly.

MPG after remap 2.0 TFSI dsg

Have a look at Motech remaps, they do a specific remap for better fuel economy: Motech EcoMap However, at £249, you would have to do alot of driving for the savings in fuel you would make to overtake the price of the remap. I would reccomend a 2.0 TDI. I dont remember the last time I did a...

Is high miles a big issue like people think it is?

Gixerson, I think it can be safe to say that voicing your opinion on a public forum is a form of advising, when it relates to a subject the OP would like to know more about. So, are you suggesting a car that does 4-5k miles a year, will suffer more corrosion, bearing and electrical failure etc...

Is high miles a big issue like people think it is?

I think it is going a bit too far advising people to avoid a low mileage car. I have a 2004 2.0 TDI with 53k miles on it. 1 previous owner who only put a few thousand miles a year on, and full Audi service history. I have had it 2 years, no major problems so far, best car I have owned. I could...

Anybody know where I can purchase an alarm horn? Part number?

I read in the Haynes manual that the security box is rivetted in place? Isnt it just a case of access the box through the wheel arch, drill the rivets out, then re-rivet the box on with a new alarm horn in? Or is it a job best left to the garage? Shariain, did you take any pictures when you did...

Anybody know where I can purchase an alarm horn? Part number?

My 2004 A3 TDI threw up a fault code on my scanner recently: 01134 - Alarm Horn (H12) - static - no define Tonight I locked the car with the key fob, then unlocked the drivers door with the key and opened it. The indicators flashed but no alarm horn. I am guessing it needs a new alarm horn. I...

    Diagnostic Scanner??

For your needs, I would fully reccomend an Autel VAG405 then. It will scan and clear a whole array of fault codes on all of the cars different systems. For £45 I think its a bargain

    Diagnostic Scanner??

I have one of the 'cheaper' scanning units, an Autel VAG405. Autel Vag405 Vw Audi Scanner Code Reader Vag 405 Obd2 [vag405 obd2] - 44.74 : Auto Parts Lights It reads and clears fault codes on my A3 and my friends A4 also. It goes into most systems of VW/Audi cars, steering, brakes, central...

Thanks for all the helpful replies, especially chris vincent. As the garage who serviced my car checked the connections with a multimeter, said the charging cycle was fine and reccomended a battery recondition, I have just bought a new battery today. I bought a Bosch 12v silver car battery...

A3 TDI electrical problem - conflicting dealer advice

I have a 2003 A3 2.0 TDI 140 with 53k miles. Last week I had the car serviced at an Audi specialist, interim service with pollen and air filter change. One of the report observations was that my battery test showed a loss of 153A, and they reccomended a bettery recondition or a new battery...

A3 3 door Thule roof bars = leaky window seals?

The Thule roof bars and fitting kit are top quality and a perfect fit on the car. I had it all fitted for about a month with a roof box on for a Devon trip and had no issues. After the month, I removed the bars as I was a bit paranoid, but the window seals werent deformed or away from the window...

Advice needed for tyres on TDI 170

I am running PS2's which are ok, average wear rate, a bit noisy on the rear. My next set of tyres will be uniroyal rainsport 2's. Good price on camskill and I think they are best suited to average UK driving conditions.

    induction kit

I had a K&N panel filter on my 2.0 TDI 140 and noticed no difference at all. I only had it on for a few months and then read some info about how much extra dirt and dust they let through, so swapped it out for an OEM filter again. Unless your going for a remap, new exhaust system etc. Im not...
