    i had this problem with mine and everywhere i took it said 'bin it, not cost affective' i now have a sony unit for the same cost as fix.

    did you do a volt test?

    try to get hold of a multimeter and take a reading across the battery with the car off and the car running. with it off it should be about 12 and with it running around 14 ish. and the reading with it running shouldn't fluctuate really, could be a bad regulater on the alternator
