What Premium tyres would you Recommed?

Pretty sure it does, somewhere :)

What Premium tyres would you Recommed?

Quattro? You need to replace all 4 tyres at the same time... false economy not to cos the different tread depths will stress the transmission.

    AUDI A4 Pulley noise problem

Can't hear the noise on that clip, sorry :( Seems to me possible culprits could include alternator pulley or the alternator itself. Once the belt is off it should be easy enough to check. HTH

    2007 2.0 TDi 170 - reluctant to start....ideas?

Sluggish starting could also be caused by a battery that's on its way out...

    A4 170 S-line se BAD MPG

^^^WHS. Having said that, my 170 quattro returns a genuine (measured, not DIS) 40mpg overall with mixed driving (50% motorway). Personally I think that's pretty good for a 'performance' diesel with 4wd. YMMV, literally ;)

    Open Wallet Surgery

... and cos the most expensive bit of changing the water pump is getting there in the first place, so changing it while the cambelt is being done makes every kind of sense...

    Which bike rack?

Me too. If you've already got a towbar fitted it's a no-brainer. The towbar racks from the likes of Thule and Atera are far more solid and stable than anything that mounts to the boot with hooks and straps, and don't have the mpg penalty of roof-mounted carriers. It's the most expensive option...

    Another 170 or 140 thread

The 2wd 170pd should be capable of mid 40s, easily. My quattro averages 40mpg with mixed driving, but I've seen a (genuine) 47mpg on a 400 mile motorway run and I get low 40s on most of my motorway trips. Considering it's pushing 200bhp and has 4wd I think that's reasonable. TBH I don't...

    Which bike rack?

'Cheap' and 'does the job' aren't phrases that sit well together when it comes to bike racks. A cheap rack is more likely to scratch your car's paint and/or let go of your bike if (for example) you need to do a sudden lane-change manouevre. Not good. Buy the best you can afford - you won't...

Is it worth re-mapping my 2.0 TDi?

But then again... I remapped my 130pd and it didn't like it at all. Dreadful shudder from the flywheel (which was only 2 months old at the time of the remap). The remap people tweaked the torque curve a bit and it made it better, but the shudder was still there. I had it put back to stock, then...

New Injectors But Still Has Tickover Misfire

Yep, worth checking the simple (and cheap) things first. Fuel filter caused me problems a couple of years back - all solved with a new one.

    2.0tdi s-line common problems?

Also... multitronic seems to cause problems (not sure if the s-line spec was available with it though). I would've thought a manual gearbox of that vintage / miles should be fine, seeing as it'll have spent most of its life on the motorway. 4 cylinder cambelt change simpler and cheaper than 6...

    2.0tdi s-line common problems?

Injectors only a problem on the 170pd, not on the 140. But you knew that :)

    My MPG has gone nutts!

You can't work out an accurate mpg for your car without measuring it brim to brim, preferably over several tankfuls (and I mean tankful, not just the odd £20 worth of diesel here and there :)). The way you've described isn't ever going to give you a meaningful figure. Buy a small notebook to...

TDI Avant wide body on ebay

Just to be clear, the engine in the car in question isn't a BLB. And no-one's pointed out it'd probably be a nightmare to get insurance for, too ;)

TDI Avant wide body on ebay

Each to their own, I suppose. Personally, with all that bad boy attitude on display I'd want a bit more than 170 diesel horses on tap. Er, and some leather inside wouldn't go amiss. It's been kicking around ebay for a while. Wonder why?

Anyone else with this problem on 2006 2.0 TDi? Injectors...

The injectors for the 140 and 170 engines are completely different designs. AFAIK only the 170 is affected by this tendency (if I understand it correctly) for a layer of insulation to break down and for the injector to short out, leading the ECU to shut down the engine because of the high...

TDI *[manual] Quattro* owners: Questions regarding consumption

Your driving style and breakdown of distance travelled sounds very similar to mine, on the whole. My B7 2.0 pd 170 quattro Avant (no remap, manual, completely stock) generally gets me 550 miles between fill-ups, which works out to very close to a real 40mpg. If there's more motorway in a...

A4 Cab Door speaker stopped working, can anyone help?

Most likely it's a dodgy contact in the door wiring harness connector. If you gently pull off the rubber boot that protects it you'll be able to squirt some WD40 into the connector (easy way), or pull the connector off (there's a release catch on the side towards the front of the car, then it's...

    New mod added today

Fair enough. Like I said, each to their own. I understand the visual effect, but I still reckon adding a splitter below the existing air dam will mess up the air flow under the car to some extent. The lack of venturi tunnels doesn't mean airflow under the car is ignored. Still, if you...
