    Winter Prep

Other have more experience of quattro and their performance in winter/snow/ice conditions but I am a little confused over the criticism of its cornering abilities, mentioned in this thread and another winter thread. Is it better or worse than a 2 wheel drive car in slippery conditions? I would...

    Winter Tyres & Wheels

Ah still plenty of fun to be had though, frozen lakes, etc. Drifts are still possible but the studs eventually grip so if your not gifted and I do not claim to be, can be a bit like bowling with the side barriers up.

    Winter Prep

Ah summer, my favorite day of the year! Snow, ice, fair enough but not sure how you prepare properly for driving in snow fall itself. Last year I had to drive during the worst snow fall, thankfully it was mostly motorway but we were down to 10Km/h for much of it. The snow would hit the...

    Winter Tyres & Wheels

In the Scandinavian countries, it is compulsory to change over to winter tyres at a specific time of year regardless of weather conditions. But afaik, the tyres they use are not what we would refer to as winter tyres, they have little metal studs embedded in the thread. Not sure if you would be...

    A4 B6 2.5TDI Quattro idle issues???

Sorry I did not read your original post carefully enough, with regards to the sensor injector. I believe you can just disconnect the MAF and see it if improves the idle before putting your hand in your pocket again.

    A4 B6 2.5TDI Quattro idle issues???

One of the injectors has a needle lift sensor, drivers side, closest one to the windscreen (if I remember correctly). You will see a wire coming from it, worth checking that the wiring is ok as I believe the wire is sandwiched between the rocker cover and head (no special path for it). Afaik...

    Brake Warning Light

Not sure if it is related to the above and probably common knowledge on here but if both back break bulbs are blown it will throw up the ESP Light and Break Light (I Believe). But this happens even if the lights are off and the warning lights come on first push of the break afaik so is probably...

    Rims just back

2.5 v6 tdi engine mount swap

lol I have this too! Yes, along with the other issues and no aircon, no working temperature or fuel gauges, cam wear, timing belt due, etc, etc, thats before I get new alloys and after forking out €500 for 6 months road tax - thankfully I like the car :D There is a thud, especially as 1st...

2.5 v6 tdi engine mount swap

I have something similar, gear stick moves with power on/off, I get quite a bit of vibration also at idle. VAG COM showed the electric engine mount with a fault so I had it replaced OEM, did not make any difference and fault is back but showing intermittent. This weekend, I will be looking at...

Audi A4 - Have a few jobs to do, would like advice plz!

Ordered the snub mounting, part number 8e0199339 at just €8 for the genuine part makes me wonder could it be that simple and cheap to sort out such pronounced vibration. Could get the mount inspected first but it would take nearly the same time to inspect it as replace it. Hopefully my luck...

Audi A4 - Have a few jobs to do, would like advice plz!

Cheers Swarcup, lol mate, yeah the list of jobs is daunting but I guess I am lucky enough that none of them are really pressing and its still more of a "jobs I would like to get done" list, for now at least :) You can pick up a cam kit for in around £600, which includes the followers, etc. The...

Audi A4 - Have a few jobs to do, would like advice plz!

Thanks James, appreciate the advice. From my reading, I believe there is two temperature sensors? The one you have mentioned and another which is behind the timing belt, not sure if this is correct though. May try the one you suggested first, your post makes it look easy. The vibration on idle...

    My first Audi

Thanks for the warm welcome! Seen some beautiful examples of the A4 on here but I have no pics yet, car is a very basic quattro version and needs a bit of tidying. No kit or modifications what so ever, standard 16" alloys, etc. I am looking at the car as a project that I hope to modify over...

Audi A4 - Have a few jobs to do, would like advice plz!

Thanks Simon, I guess I am hoping its not the clutch but it did cross my mind. Would that cause the Hydro mounting intermittent fault? To my understanding, if there is too much play on the snub mount it will tear the hydro electric mounts? BTW, I have the EKTA program for parts and it says that...

Audi A4 - Have a few jobs to do, would like advice plz!

Hi All, I recently purchased a A4 2001 2.5tdi V6, 98K miles, AKE engine code. Got the car at a good price but have a few jobs to do to it, I have spent some money already and have found that the fault code given by Vag-Com does not always point towards the actually problem but we live and...
