If it's the RNS-E navy unit the DVDs drive behind the screen may be factory locked to protect the navigation disc. Won't let you remove it to install a cd for music.

Going to have to revert to plan B. Still have not received the disc from this guy, and he's being a bit of a jerk. Won't answer emails at all now

Disc eventually came, but of course the wrong one I ordered Western Europe but received central, so now I'm waiting for the correct one. Told me to keep the wrong one as compensation, like I'm ever going to use it!

Ahh, that sounds better. I'll be doing a daily commute of 100 miles, 90 of which is motorway. Mine had been on a variable service schedule which seems to have been approx 15k miles. I would normally doing it at about 10k myself, but what do you guys normally do?

Thanks, ya motor tax here is robbery. As I said that A3 will be €200 p/y, my missus has a 2006 A4 1.9tdi which is €628 p/y, work that one out??? Government changed the tax rates to emissions based in 2008, but only for new cars from that date forward. All older cars have to pay the old rates...

Well finally got the car back today. It was described as a ball joint unit in the gearbox that was out of play by about 2mm and restricted fifth from engaging??? It's driving sweet as a nut now, so I can finally test the new clutch and flywheel and most importantly this didn't cost anything...

If the coolant sensor on top that you already changed wasn't genuine I'd says that your most likely problem. I've changed a few between the A4 and A6 I've had, and been caught out badly with them. If it's not working properly it is giving a wrong reading to the ecu aswell as the guage (4 pin)...
