I had the same drama ,I changes so many bulbs,relays and even the third brake light and in the end found the spare wheel well full of water ,drained and found the rear lights seals had perished ,I made a new seal with bathroom silicone dried everything and in 48 hours the error disappeared .

Yep thats just about all I have found out as well can't find a part number or replacement price no real idea what it does ? something to smooth low rev's ,was surprised just how many I found already broken

Engine is 1.8 non turbo and can't find any part numbers ,was at the breakers today and all of passats and a4's that had the part were all broken so must be a common failure ,can't think of any way to repair it either the round end where it connects to the spindle is snapped :(

Checking the oil tonight and some how I have managed to break the top of the dipstick tube ,actual stick is ok but the top of the oil tube is sheared managed to clean all the bits off ,never had or even heard of one breaking before . How easy it it to replace or is it a whole new tube ? thanks

Have a look on trents.co.uk ,I check weekly and pop in as and when its only 5 mins from me , did the leather handbrake and cover from a B6 last weekend cost £5, new Avant boot cover £8 etc

I thought that but the light from the breakers had a few bulbs out so swapped with the new ones from my with old light and perfect all light up no warnings . swapped it all back to the old one and warning straight away .

Hi All, Posted on here about the constant brake light warning ,after swapping every rear bulb twice, wiring checks I was at a loss ,even swapped out the monitoring relay, I went to the local breakers (which is in Poole Trents) and the have 2 avants in atm, and about 4 other asst B5's I removed a...

So today ,stripped and cleaned all connections to the bulb holders, changed the 387 relay for 2 others I acquired from breaker ,and that is a job in itself they can't all be faulty , Checked all lights worked and ......... on came the warning light straight away ftlog off to buy more of the tiny...

Yep checked brakes lights ll working ,checked voltages ,replaced all bulbs with correct voltage etc ,running out of ideas now

So the Saga continues , I have now replaced the 387 relay ,chnaged the brake light bulbs so so many times ,replaced the tiny 3rd brake light bulbs , for the love of god I still have the warning light on !!!! Anybody else any ideas please .

I like that idea ,how much ? those tiny bulbs are not cheap ,so far 4 brake light bulbs and 4 of the small 3rd light bulbs , it is now getting personal :) next route would be the bulb monitoring relay ,but not sure where that's hidden ,have a local breaker with 3 or 4 Audi A4 saloons in atm if...

Hi all, So checked and changed the brake lights ,change a couple of small bulbs in the 3rd brake light , and still the damn light comes on and beeps ,where do I find the monitoring relay ? any other ideas would be appreciated Thanks in advance
