    DPF - Pressure Sensor.......

Sounds like you need a second opinion, but yes Audi is probably the most expensive option. I can't remember the make of sensor that failed on mine (pro something I think). My symptoms were stuttering at around 1.5-2k rpm, and needing to put foot down to clear, eventually to the poiint my foot...

    Keep or bin?

Yeh about secondhand - about 2k in the UK are the only ones available (also fits S5 and some others). Fortunately a breaker in Latvia took my offer of 230 euros and hopefully it will be shipped tomorrow, being fitted by an independent for 250 plus oil, so a bit of a result.

    Keep or bin?

oh well, only 4.5k for a new diff plus fitting. Hello Ford/anybody else.

    Keep or bin?

3 sets of discs before I went somewhere else and had the hub run out measured, yeh it's the hubs. Probably cheap discs did the damage. I'll ask about caliper strip downs. Garage did say it was a rare failure, had some all roads in as they get more of a battering. I do drive pretty hard but...

    Keep or bin?

Car as per signature, last two thousand miles have cost me more than a pound a mile in repairs (80k on clock): DPF clean Turbo recon EGR valve+cooler Still needs - warped front hubs/disks replacing Diagnosed today (what i thought was a simple wheel bearing) new rear diff (find out the cost...

    DPF - Pressure Sensor.......

Had loads of DPF issues with mine, including faulty (new) pressure sensors, make sure they use the genuine Audi part as I had two new non-Audi ones both fail after around 100 miles.

    Stronic issues

Nah, I never bothered, figured it was usual, and as it's silky smooth otherwise and hasn't changed in 75k I figure it's nothing serious even if it's not. I've got plenty of other problems, a month of turbo issues is the tip of the iceburg. Pretty annoyingly had another turbo related limp mode...

    Turbo problems 170 tdi

Might be cheaper to send it away to be remanufactured? Mine was leaking oil and ruined the DPF (at only 80k), got sent off and was back within 24 hours, didn't add much to the time the car was away 9DPF was sent off too). Beware the studs, one snapped on mine.

Torque intervention - what is it and why?

Possibly fixed, issue caused by a new DPF sensor fitted when they sent the DPF for cleaning, replaced, test drive, seems ok. Onwards with brakes and gearbox oil. (next month!)

    Stronic issues

Mines been doing that for the last 75k (and probably before that I bought it with about 7k on the clock), oil change makes the gear changes smoother but doesn't seem to effect the occasional first gear clunk when cold.

Torque intervention - what is it and why?

So, following the DPF, Turbo and EGR replacements I now have loss of power between 1-2k (initially only felt in 7th but now down to 3rd) and a torque intervention error code logged (no engine management light yet). Anybody explain what this is and why it might be happening? I can only find...

    S-Tronic Oil Change Question

So, on top of turbo, DPF and now EGR+cooler in the space of two weeks I'm in the middle of two garages telling me different things about my gearbox oil change which is due. Audi (Nottingham) - quote 175 quid, about what they charged 2 years ago. Thought as it was in to an independent I'd get...

    B&O sound system fault

I had to replace my drivers door B&O speaker a couple of months ago, very bad bass on it. Couldn't see anything physically wrong with it, and a secondhand one off ebay was fine. Weird thing to have problems with given the cost of the upgrade.

    Expensive month (2)

Sorry, just realised I didn't address the DPF question. Yes, it's mainly down to the MOT/legality issue. The majority of my mileage is business for my employer (travel to customer sites etc), and I can't take any risks with legality regarding the car I use.

    Expensive month (2)

This issue predates the current set of tyres and I'm sure the garage would have checked. I have a rough price for the S4 brake upgrade. Ouch. Probably get the hubs replaced, then go with the garages recommendation on disks/pads for now. I've had this car five years and the plan is to keep it...

    Expensive month (2)

They measured the hub run out and the discs, definitely warped, they're also blue, I do tend to brake pretty hard if I'm in the mood and it's pretty clear. Not sure on the pads but currently on Pagid discs. Thanks for the tip on the Q5 stuff, will take a look. Looked into the DPF removal, I...

    Expensive month (2)

Couple of weeks ago the DPF light comes on, limp mode. Booked in last week - DPF needs cleaning, bit unusual at such low miles (80k), anyway, gets sent off and gets good results from the cleaning. Had a call today, stud snapped on the turbo, we'll have to remove the turbo to sort it, but...

Car breaks down every time SO is in it.

First RAC guy (very good) did that several times to make sure the dynamic charging control was working, the alternator and the battery tested good. I don't understand why the vanity light stays on (albeit at low light), pretty sure all the interior lights power off some time after ignition off...

Car breaks down every time SO is in it.

First time, popped to the local pub for lunch, got back in car to a dead battery. RAC man put his money on duff battery (it's about old enough), but after a jump everything checked out ok and sure enough it behaved for another 10 days. Cue a trip to Thorpe Park and after an overnight stay in...
