Wife has a 2007 Passat with a RCD 500, which is a similar unit but subtle differences at the front end. Her stereo went on the blink too just last week, I checked everthing but at the end of the day youll probably be charged £40 just to find the fault.
I got a second hand one on ebay and Im...
Had new injectors fitted and the upgraded Varta battery BUT I am convinced that this engine has an issue cold starting. One theory discussed before was that fuel was draining back through the system and the injectors were not preloaded with fuel and ready to go. Im not a mechanic but I also run...
Check the log book at the back for the injector recall. It has a code which should be recorded in the book when it was done. Personally my car had it done but I never had any issues in the first place. I would be surprised if Audi missed this...
The timing belt is another £350 job at least so...
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Trouble with the internet is that everybody posts about an issue they have had with their car, you never hear about all the owners who dont have problems.
If it's got an Audi FSH then that is a major concern averted...
Well mate I was in the same position but at the end of the day Ive got no regrets. Never had any regen issues, had mine remapped and its been great. Got the quattro sportback myself....
Just make sure the injectors have been changed if it falls into the recall group, has good FSH and decent...
Quattro makes a huge difference when cornering, gives you a new confidence when doing so but it must also be used with respect. Over confidence can be dangerous, so it might provide a false sense of security.
My answer to your question would be for you to test drive both units and decide for...
Hi mate.
Absolute nightmare as you know...I had this on my 2007 Passat which clealy is a different model but the fault finding principles are the same. I searched the net and could not find one report of this issue on my model of car, so I had to start from scratch.
First thinng I did was to...

My 57 170 is similar. Changed the battery to a new Varta one, has made a difference but still think it is not as "instantaneous" as my 10 year old Golf GTi which has always started impeccably during all the years I've owned it, and it still has the original battery BTW!
I don't think the...
Had my 57 170 SB Quattro for over a year, had it remapped just after buying it. Never had a DPF issue, done 8k miles with a mix of town and light use of A roads. I drive in a spirited fashion as they say, remap carried out by E Maps.
MPG low to mid forties....remember its a quattro.

Internal bulbs are fairly easy. Only problem I hard was pulling the doorcards out just enough to get access to the bulb holders. That is if you have the puddle lights.
Audi seem to meaure the wiring to the last mm so they don't leave much excess for this job. Just takes a wee bit of confidence...
I got a text too..2007 170 Quattro with 57k on the clock. Quoted me £429, didn't say if that included the water pump. Got mine done at an indy, new belt, pump etc and a service for £500.

LED rears are probably one of be best mods, they are stunning! I got mine done by Jonny from this site...aka Jbo0. There is some minor wiring mods and coding required, personally prefer this to be done properly who knows what they are doing.
S3 pedals can be bought on ebay or from Audi, just...
I've got the 2007 170 quattro, it came with 18" Speedlines which are great. So far I've done the following and I'm more than happy:-
S3 Pedals
LED Rears
LED Internally with light pack
Silver Roof Bars
Laminex Headlights Light Smoke
Sensible remap
Not to keen on the black grill personally as I...
It should come fully charged but it wouldn't do any harm to give it a full charge on the deck so to speak. At least you know where you are with the battery and can monitor it from there.

E44 fits no problem mate, done it on mine a few weeks ago. Resolved the ESP fault issues and seems much better and stable at starting, I would say it took a wee while to get it fully charged though.
