mine is also doing this, it sounds like the wheel is rubbing on the cowling, but if you stick your head by the pedals its actually coming from down there. i think the joint just needs greasing.
Its time consuming, if you get stressed easily then i dont recommend it, aslong as your patient then its just a case of undoing things and putting them back. Doubt the barrier is standard, most probably as an extra i would have thought

Its quite a lot deeper, i bought one, trial fitted it but had to sell it as i could not get over speed humps or on the MOT ramp with it. Shame as i loved it.
depends what tyres you have, just had my front tyres changed from toyos to khumos and the front s rub a tiny bit now. Mind you the front is rather low. The Khumo tyres have much wider side walls to protect the wheels from kerbing.
mine got 161 bhp and 230 ib/ft on AMD's rollers, that was with a tuning box on. Im not sure quite how accurate this is though, it still tears my brothers golf tdi 150 a new ******** in 6th gear. (which i was very shocked about)
1. No special tools are needed, only thing you may not find in a regular tool kit is a 32mm spanner to undo the fan. Everything else i improvised with. Ie used tippex instead of a camlock tool etc...
