    Car locked with keys in the ignition!

    This is a common problem on the A3. it happened to me at a petrol station! There is something wrong with the doors, the car thinks the door was NOT opened but detects the lock open so locks. very annoying. I resorted to rolling the window down every time i left the car with keys in.

    Issue with locking car

    I am not sure about your other issue but i can report locking myself out. It happened to me at a petrol station. Luckily i was close to home and had a spare key. Would have been a different story if i was 100+ miles away! I always remove the keys when exiting the car from that day.

    I am sure the car thinks you never opened the door. Does the door open symbol show on your DIS? if not the sensor inside the lock is faulty, common fault on early models.
