Ok guys thanks for ur help, iv heard of jamex they are the ones I was looking at for £250. I'm surprised no-one recommends main dealer parts though. Also need a break pipe, rocker cover gasket and a driveshaft heat shield. Would u recommend I buy these from main dealer??

Iv got an a3 1.8t 1998 agu engine code and have just recently taken it to Audi for a basic check over. The report has come back saying basically the rear suspension and front lower arms are knackerd, and also a front spring amongst other bits an pieces.
All I want to know is which...
So would taking out the gearbox and changing the oil stop the noise for a while?? At the moment its only really in 1st gear when I floor it from low revs, but that is when parts are under most load I assume?? If the box is knackerd is it just a refurb I need?
No its defently not the turbo leaking. More likely to be the trust bearing but when I hear the noise I press the clutch and dosent really make much difference. It's only under load.
It's coming from the front. I thought it was the gearbox, so I ordered a Reconditioned gearbox. Took out my old gearbox and realised not only were the gearboxs different, but the engine mount was dangerously loose and about to slip off??? I put back the old gearbox and tightened up the engine...
When I put my foot down, usually from low revs, I get a loud whining sound that is defently not the turbo?? Sounds like it might be a bearing but which one? I don't get the noise when I drive easy.
Yer u were right, cheerz for ur help every1 it would of cost me a fortune in a garage but got a used ignition amp for £40 :). Now iv got a pipercross induction kit and the car feels much better and sounds abit louder. What would u say to change next other than dump valve?
Right iv ordered a used ignition amp but its been tested. Hopefully ill be driving soon :). Thanks for your help every1 ill let u know what happens when it arrives!

This is a real head scratcher iv got two of my mates (both mechanics) that havent got a clue what it is, iv mentioned the ignition amp and...
Iv changed coil packs, spark plugs and injectors and also have compression but I have a constant misfire on cylinder 1?? There is probley no spark coz the plugs getting wet, iv even checked the ignition amp and it looks good so I don't really know where to look other than the ecu?? Any ideas...
no, front wheel drive so the cambelts at the side in front of the driver. Any suggestions for mods while iv got the head off? Maybe a KO3s turbo or uprated valves???
So it looks like I'm gonna be taking off the head, but while I'm there is it worth upgrading anything else apart from the valves? I will be getting a cambelt kit I think it comes with water pump anyway. Is a cambelt especially difficult to fit on an a3 1.8t 1998 fwd?
