Well funny :welcoming: This isnt a manual vs DSG debate though! I wanted one and I do think it's great. I can drive it round in manual mode and its 100% fine, I just wondered if what I am seeing is right or a possible fault. I take your point but each to their own. Full on Dynamic mode in S does...
I dont rev it up, I just pull away hard, its in gear so I just hit the throttle. I dont hold it on the brake. I dont usually bury it just pretty hard. Hitting 6k is super quick and easy though yes. They are awesome and very quick cars! There is no delay in the gearbox it is a fantastic piece of...
Thanks for the information, this does seem to be a little different to what you describe. i.e. it does nothing other than slip into manual mode with no gear change either way. By hard I mean hard enough to push it to 6k if you leave it auto so say more than 3/4s throttle. Appreciate your time.
Thanks for the reply, a big help! Obviously it cost me a truckload of cash and so I just wanted to see if other people get the same thing or if mine is exhibiting some sort of fault. Thanks for your time much appreciated.
Hello all, I've been lucky enough to get a 2017 S3 black edition with 7 speed DSG and had it for 6 months now. Its a great car but you knew that!! I would like some help / opinion on a slightly annoying issue as described below. Apologies for the long post it is quite an easy real world thing to...
Many thanks for your comments I appreciate it, the more I look the more there are comments about timing chain issues. I was under the impression that these were pretty much bullet proof so it is a bit of a concern.... there doesn't really seem any surefire way to protect against it either...
I will no worries, I reckon anyone looking to bail after spending £7k has something to hide!! I'm too long in the tooth to fall for the just can't be bothered to fix it gag...
Cheers for the input, I am certainly going to check to make sure it is well looked after and has a thorough history. I have had quite a few VAGs including a 2.5 TDi A6 and skoda VRS that I had remapped. All were 100% great and reliable as my previous jap stuff... a TT Supra funnily enough after...
Cheers Sam, everyone always lies about fuel consumption imo!! I used to have a 285hp ST3 and it did about 27 but some people reckon to get 32! Never... even driving it really carefully it struggled to hit 30. The S4 is only a weekend car so fuel not too important anyway. I am just after genuine...
Hi Guys
Currently researching buying an S4 cabriolet, probably an 04 > 05 plate, manual. Just wanted to know if there are any buying guides or owner advice on what to look out for / go for. It's a big serious engine and I don't want to miss any obvious things. Timing chains seem to crop up in...
