Hi am currently doing some research into known problems and expensice repairs on the 5.2l V10 - after hearing some horror stories on the RS6 (glass transmission etc etc as expensive to run & maintain as an itralian exotic...) I am interested to hear if similar issues / costs are likely to occur...

thanks - i would have thought these engines last a while (i.e. 150k / 200k +) but heard some horror stories...

I herad various stories about engines lasting only 100k km (approx 60k miles) or needed very expensive repairs - is this true, or are these just really bad cases (or folks who havent maintained their cars properly)? Any views / experiences much appreciated! Thx

Hi, I am toying with idea to upgrade and get a S6 avant...what are common areas to look out for when inspecting the car? How reliable is the V10, and if somethiung goes what is it, how expensive to fix? Looking at 2006/2007 approx 50-60k miles... Thanks Simon

thanks guys - looks a bit like rust 'bubbles' the size of a 10p coin - without the rust color...probably mild corrosion - will ask the wheel guy to have a look and sort it.

Looks like 2 of my alloys have small rust (or thats what it looks like anyway) - is it rust or something else? I find it odd that alloys develop what looks like rust...? is this common? And can this be fixed by alloy repair guys - I know a guy who did a great job on chipped alloys in the past...
