Hi
I was posting on here some time ago, but then a few things changed in my life and my A3 fell down the list of priorities. Ive now managed to settle back down but unfortunately about the same time it developed a few more faults, specifically:
The ABS light
Gearbox grind
Offside hub...
I ran mine via the bulkead hole, much the same as the coathanger way. I'd suggest threading a much thinner wire first, then use that as a lead to drag the power cables. No extra drilling is needed (as far as I'm aware) and I have 2 power cables.
Once down, runs along the door carpet etc...
there are some pretty good pre-facelift all in one lights on fleabay, like these
AUDI A3 95-03 CHROME TWIN ANGEL EYE HEADLIGHTS PAIR on eBay (end time 02-Apr-11 11:14:40 BST)
I've toyed with the idea of R8 lights, but I'd steer clear. Im a 1998 A3, and a Essex chav.
One small note - My rear washer had never squirted properly, and when it did work, it woud take about 10 seconds of holding down the button.
When I was fitting my second amp, I was runnng wires through the front bulkhead va the normal snap panel in the engine bay which leads to the hole behind...
seem to be OK. I bought a similar pair 2 years ago and they have lasted until now. Mine are still OK but it's time for a change, and my rear (non aero) had died a death.
I think they're great, and the other benefit is the clip - they look quite sleek. A tenner seems really good for the set...
I'm a 1.6 and am very hurt by some of these comments ;)
Seriously, I'd go for looks and comfort rather than performance too. I've got bluetooth kit in mine, new seats, parking sensors and any other little luxuries I can add. Your car looks really nice - what's the interior?
Lights...
So I was driving back from the garage, and there was loads of wind noise. I pulled over and spent 5 minutes trimykg to discover the fault, only to find that the screen had popped out of all the channels and is now lying loose.
How? Dunno. But it may be the speakers, a jolt, overuse of...
just had mine back from the garage and they suggested this. I'm going to look into it as it was the only sensor reading with issues, so I'll keep you posted.
I've got bigger problems now - the windscreen fell out of the channel on the drive home...
meanwhile, back at the ranch.
I picked up my A3 folling the diagnostics (lambda sensor maybe) and the fupping windscreen fell out on the way back. THE WINDSCREEN!
It's slipped by about 1 inch down so no I've got epic wind noise. Thats another #150 I wasn't expecting to pay.
:keule::banghead:
That was my only conclusion. The garage owner had told them, but a3 owner obviously likes their a3!
I'd just go and buy another 1.8t and spend the rest on lapdances and beer, personally...
Each to their own!
