    4.2 FSI issue

Hi, I’m hoping someone can assist - we currently have a 2011 RS5 in for an unusual issue. Every so often you can get the car to cruise by itself, usually in 5th gear the revs will hold at 1500rpm and the car will coast at 30mph without touching a pedal. It’s not every time and seems more...

    4.2 FSI RS4/5 - can you help?!

A1 Navigation question - Activated or not??

Hi all, After having all the big Audi's I've sold my last A5 and bought a little A1 185 on an 11 plate. I have been reading about the navigation and the fact it needs activating etc but I've noticed my system seems to give a different message to a friends that isn't fitted with Nav? I enclose...

S3 (8P) - Loss of Traction During Hard Acceleration... HELP!!

Pull the fuse for the haldex system and see if it drives any different? Mine was un-drivable with the fuse out at stage 2+, I wanted to feel what an Edition 30 would be like. Needless to say I bought another Quattro.

    Audi 2014 A3 Airbag in a 2010 A5

Mine has the low line buttons as detailed above, all works ok inc voice recognition button. As far as I'm aware iNav will only work with the facelift MMI but that's going in soon. I haven't actually played with the iNav button and volume wheel, I'll report back tomorrow for you.

    Audi 2014 A3 Airbag in a 2010 A5

Thanks for the reply. I've just fitted an airbag kit from a 2013 A5 in a 2011, it came with the round airbag but I also bought the steering wheel off the guy along with the SWCM & switch pack. Swapped everything and it all works fine so I guess I'm lucky. The new round airbag only had one...

    Audi 2014 A3 Airbag in a 2010 A5

Can i ask what the issue is with fitting the A3 airbag? Looks the same as the A4/5 one, I'm guessing it just brings the light on?

Full detail & paint correction wanted in Sheffield - Any recommendations / members?

Hello, I'm looking to have my Audi A5 fully detailed and paint corrected. Has the inevitable swirl marks as the car is black. Looking for any recommendations within Sheffield, South Yorkshire, or any members on here that do detailing? Thanks.

Anyone ever removed the chrome window glass surrounds?

Thanks for that, I think I might go down that route now! As you say, it's removable if required. Can I ask a ballpark price for having it done? I'm guessing a pretty large sheet of vinyl is needed for the top chrome?

    Audi RS5 TDI concept

I think I'm right in saying the ESC is just a means to reduce turbo lag, as opposed to increase power or torque overall as it just creates a means to spool the smaller turbo before the exhaust gas can. This is why nobody can compete with Mercedes in the F1 at the moment, they have this system...

    Audi RS5 TDI concept

I've grown up with the TDI revolution and can honestly say, if you offered me a TDI RS5 and a V8 RS5, I'd go for the oil burner every time. Fuel consumption is irrelevant for me, I just really enjoy the usability of a Diesel engine without having to 'work it'. 45MPG on the motorway from the 3.0...

Anyone ever removed the chrome window glass surrounds?

It had crossed my mind but I was worried about them peeling at the front edge due to wind etc? How many miles have they held up for? Thanks for the reply.

    A4 cab cat-d

For less than £600 it will be a hack up job for sure. The leg is kinked and boot floor is folded. Both need to be replaced with (I'd use) a second hand section for a perfect repair. Pull, panel and fettle then seal for an acceptable repair. Plenty of people will pull it out on a jig and leave...

    Audi RS5 TDI concept

The RS5 is a 4.2 V8 420PS? Superior capacity, more BHP and less weight. It just lacks torque in comparison, which it makes up for with the high revving design. If anything this the fair race for the diesel (if you're going as close the like for like as possible) would be the S5? Same capacity...

    Audi RS5 TDI concept

Petrol equivalent? The RS6 is of similar weight, has 560PS and, thanks to the turbos, 700nm of torque. Not exactly a fair comparison really, like putting an S3 up against an S5 and being surprised it lost. Who knows why they didn't put it against the RS5 V8. Would have been far more...

Anyone ever removed the chrome window glass surrounds?

As the title suggests really, wanting to remove the chrome strips that run around the side window glass as I'm going gloss black. Any experience before I get the screw driver out? Thanks in advance.

    S5 DSG gearbox redline?

Reciprocal weight strain on the engine internals whist there is no load on the crank damages engine components. It also allows the engine to over-rev because there is no load. The limiter is there to stop people over revving the engine and throwing a rod, I've seen it happen. It's also there on...

    Whole dash removal

Yeah yours will be the genuine kit, mine wasn't although it looked identical!

    Whole dash removal

No problem. Yeah I had the horrid cradle on my first ever A3. From memory I didn't get rid of it because it was also the antenna for the Bluetooth, as well as being an awful looking cradle. That's why I left mine! Good luck anyway!

    Whole dash removal

You'd be halfway there if you take the above out. A few tricky Torx bolts around the airbag and ones facing upwards on to the bulkhead beam are about as bad as it gets. It's just time consuming. My only advice would be to do it all in one go or you may lose track!
