Try giving the wires that go between the post and door a wiggle to start with, if they're not plugged in properly this kinda thing happens, it's quite unusual for everthing in the same door to just die without doing anything elsewhere on the car

If your gonna go through your insurance make sure you specify that you want an Audi approved repairer, that'll guarantee genuine parts are used,approved paint and it'll also not interfere with your 12 year anti-perforation warranty which if you go elsewhere will become invalid on the panels...

It depends really on what the rust looks like, the way they designed the inner fold on the wing is a trap for mud,water,salt,general crap to gather behind which is what causes it to rust add that to stonechips etc and it's always gonna happen, if it looks like it's coming from the inside out...

The panel will only be replaced if there is perforation but if it's starting to rust get yourself along and get the process started, we've got 2 in at the moment and a 52 plate A6 which has rusty gutters so theres plenty people still getting stuff done!

It just slows the process down , doesn't stop it, front wings are the only rust issues on B6's due to poor design on the ineer lip of the wing, if you have any visible rust there at all get yourself down to Audi as they're still repairing them under warranty

i hate mudflaps, they collect so much dirt and moisture behind them i think it actually speeds up corrosion, the b6 is bad enough for rusty wings in my opinion.
