Just taken delivery of a brand spanking Avant Quattro BE and I am a bit disappointed to see that there is still an ashtray and lighter in the car. Is there a way to replace this with some kind of cubby hole? I have done some googling but not found anything...
Hi Lee - I got mine blanked off with a plate with a hole in it. Since then I have had fewer problems (no lumpy idle, no low boost) BUT every now and again I do get limp mode which requires the old 'engine off and on again'. The hole in the plate apparently stops the sensor from registering that...
That's what JBS have recommended but they want 800 odd quid to perform a DPF delete and re-map as well. Their chap says that the EGR still gets blanked off in this instance, but the re-map tells the ECU to ignore it.
Hi Oddie
I am not totally sure. They originally replaced the throttle body which had a crack which was causing a leak. Car was fine for a few miles after that but then I had limp mode again. Next step was to remove and clean the EGR but apparently that didn't improve things much, so they blanked...
My 170 PD has been the same since Audi replaced the injectors - low boost issue and occasionally limp mode (which clears if you turn the engine off and then back on). I don't really trust Sheffield Audi so I have been in and out of JBS in Chesterfield where they know a thing or 2 about diesels...
You can clean the steering wheel, handbrake and gear knob with lemon juice, hot water and a toothbrush. Works wonders on the Alcantara - mine was similarly dirty when I got it. I am swapping my steering wheel for a leather one though (thanks eBay) because it needs cleaning all the time!
I recently got a new key for mine. Audi Sheffield charged me about 220 quid - £150 for the key and £70 to code it. I rang around and all of the dealers were pretty much the same price. As far as I know, you will have to go to a dealer because only they can code the key to the immobiliser.
Mine does this too. It appears to be an intermittent fault - if you turn the volume up high the speaker starts working again. Sounds weird I know, but it would be worth trying before you take the door cards off!
For your Alcantara use Lemon Juice and hot water with a toothbrush, let it dry and then do it again. This worked a treat on my steering wheel which now looks like Alcantara again and not dirty leather!
They are a different shape. For the record I bought one of these AUDI A4 AVANT ESTATE BOOT LINER MAT on eBay (end time 02-Mar-11 05:43:46 GMT) and it fits like a glove. Useful flap to stop the spaniel scratching the bumper as well :)
Hi Fahim
similar to Sim2cool, I would be interested in any advice you can give about cleaning the EGR valve and intercooler - how easy is it?
thanks
Jonny
