Nice one AL! hope all goes well and we'll have to meet up when you get it.. What are you doing with the current car (private or px)? Also which remap will you get? That's going to be a tasty car with circa 300bhp after remapping!
I've gone to the dark side - traded my lovely Ferrari red...
Hazlewood/Flipper, I hope you stick with it. On a previous S4, dealer negligence caused a seal to be ingested into a turbo causing damage. Diagnosis was engine removed, two new turbos, two intercoolers and both heads needed removing to clear any debris from cylinders. As you can imagine...
In terms of decent cars, there's not actually a lot out there and there hasn't been for a while. What is there is 'trying' to fetch premium money - some of which is simply not attainable IMO unless you are a serious collector.. Another factor is these cars (993's) don't 'book' in Glasses etc...
****** hell that is a good price. If you buy it make sure you check it out well though! If it passes the 111 point inspection, you're able to buy a full Porsche warranty which I'd strongly encourage.
There are reports that some early 3.4 engines are developing 'oval' cylinder liners which...
aye looks a good car - he's quite serious about his price isn't he? I think I've seen this car around advertised at a dealers.
I don't think Ebay is a good place to sell these types of cars IMO.
Thanks David - I have 2 buyers guides - A 993 buyers book by Peter Morgan and a buyers guide from the Internet written by Adrian Crawford. Both are good reads which I've had for a while.
I'm also fairly well clued up mechanically - one thing I picked up when viewing a 993 once was how the...
also I should note that I intend to get any prospective car fully inspected but would rather weed out the undesirables first before paying Mr Morgan repetitively..
David did you get your C4 inspected before purchase?
David there's a few 993 C4's which I'm considering - also a possible C2. I viewed/drove one for a while a couple of weeks back and have mixed feelings about how it drove compared to my S3. This car had a dodgy checkstrap on drivers door which the dealer was willing to fix but not properly IMO...
indeed the few 996 C4S I've noticed do have higher miles.
Am I right in thinking 996's don't have the checkstrap issue that 993's seemingly have?
Also should the 993 speedo mileage digits all line up perfectly or say if the car was at 79,500 the '7' digit is slightly raised?
another viewpoint from another S3 owner who's in the market for a 993.
I've seen a few turbo 993's and inquired about a few more lately - all the turbo cars have scarey bills as a part of their history compared to the non-turbo models.
993 prices are softening now although some owners are...
X50 pack on the 996 TT comes with bigger turbos, different engine internals in some places and different intercoolers.
As it happens, the turbos on the 996 TT are easy to change and you can now get some nice blueprinted hybrid ones which with a sensible remap will easily achieve 580 bhp with...

Thats great info David. Gives me something to think/dream about. Got some serious saving up to do though.

Simon. Are you back in an s3. What happened to the rs4?
[/ QUOTE ]
Hello John. Yes back in S3 land again. Recently moved house and needed some extra pennies for an extension, plus with the prospect of falling RS4 residuals, decided it was time to sell back in June (got a very good...

Fancy swapping to a RS4 myself. Should be ok on the servicing as bro runs the workshop at the local Audi dealer, but , and I just know this is a stupid question, how much worse is it going to be on fuel ?
Seen them for £24-25 on a Y and X with 50k on them. So is plausable to have it...
so you're still hunting it down eh AL? come-on Lad get a grip!
looks like mine has surging on part throttle - nothing major but still enough for me to notice compared to my previous 2 S3's. I've changed the MAF, spark plugs, N75 valve but still no difference. Next will be the Lambda's when I...
