Has anyone split here headlights to paint the inside? Was hoping for a guide or similar. Have seen some on mk4 golfs and skodas but they are both glass headlights iirc so the oven method wouldn't agree with our plastic headlights I dont think!
It does sound like you have water getting into the combustion chamber. It would cause it to run bad as the octane is lowered. The excess water/steam gets pushed out the exhaust causing the white smoke. The oil cooler is water cooled isn't it? could be a place to start looking.
White smoke usually means water is getting into where it doesn't belong. We had the same issue on a passat at home and it turned out the water jacket had cracked allowed oil and water to mix. Is the smoke white or blueish?
As for the engine code Id ignore what is written on the cover. Id check...
Sorry to hear about that Jay. No one see anything? such a low life thing to do.
Thanks Carl, It sure is, I have kept on top of everything and if it needed something it got it very early on into the issue and has always received preventative maintenance from me and the previous owners. I know if...
Haven't updated this in quite a while, Since then its flew through 2 NCTs and I have fitted 312mm's and 4 Uniroyal RS3's. 20k miles since last May with no issues. Then last Sunday the local Indian take away driver reversed into me as I was stationary and bent my wing and cracked my bumper...
Was doing a service there tonight on my 1.8T A3 AUM. When I pulled off the first coil I noticed oil on the coilpack, The interior walls were the same and the plugs had oil on them. I have deleted the n249 valve and the PCV system is clear. I only changed a coil a few months back and there was no...
Ha! As soon as I get OEM look piping Ill do that! I have a hatred of shiny silicone:blink:. I replaced the ARB bushes this week with the revised bushes and brackets, ***** of a job to get the bolt back in!
You would be surprised how cheap main dealers actually are, Plus you cant beat OEM...
I did the n249 delete yesterday, It really sharpened up DV response, I went at one of the arches this afternoon to see how well I could get them up, Ill do the other 3 next weekend.
N249 delete really cleaned up the bay.

Uh oh, I think I misread something then went hell for leather at it. I have the DV going to the nipple on the manifold and a T piece between them going to the SAI completely bypassing the n112 is this an issue?
Keep at them and if its under warranty why are people paying towards it? Been fobbed off if you ask me. Mine was sorted free of charge quarter blended in and all. Even gave me a brand new golf to tip about in. Stick it to them.
You need to relax, This is a forum, the internet. If this winds you up well then you have very little to be worried about in your life.
OP, Im sure an s3 one would be the same aswell along with most other haldex based cars using the 1.8t.
Was that Gary's STI? Scoobys really need to be running right and can take some time to feel confident throwing about. I had a legacy b4 280bhp bla bla bla, was stupid fun on the ragged edge with the bilsteins, I reckon the my old standard s3 after a map wouldn't be too far behind from a A to B...
I am going to be servicing my 1.8t soon including dropping the sump to clean the pick up pipe, I have always used castrol edge and have no complaints apart from price. I am now swaying towards using quantum, It is OEM after all and is at a great price, How do you all rate it? and what do you use?
