    Booked remap but...

Thats a good read. Well done with it, I think I may do some of the smaller mods youve done before its mapped. Im assuming mine would be the same. Where would you say is the best place to map these cars?

    Booked remap but...

Im looking to get my a5 3.0tdi mapped in a few weeks but im not sure on whether to get the s-tronic box mapped at the same time. Has anyone mapped their gearbox and is it worth it? Also, dpf removal, is it worth removing purely from a performance point of view?

Compression Ratios - what does it all mean?

So what sort of CR should I go for? once I have built this bottom end, I dont intend to do it again. Me being me I will probably change to a bigger / better turbo in the future. Would I be better off going for around 9:1 CR?

Compression Ratios - what does it all mean?

Thanks Aragorn, is it still possible to run higher compression alongside higher boost on a 1.8T though? I didnt blow a hole in the original engine, i found a lump of casting in the sump.. couldnt see where it came from so im guessing it was towards the top of the engine.. could of hydro-locked...

Compression Ratios - what does it all mean?

My block decided to fall apart on my 1.8t so im building another. I come across a 2.0 TFSI lump for a good price so my plan is to use the TFSI crank in the 1.8T, i already have IE rods so it leaves me with pistons.. is it possible to use the TFSI pistons? I believe the standard size piston in...

    R-Tech you daddies!!

Why do you think thats harsh? i know alot of vag owners and I have heard good and bad of pretty much every tunerd, I have only ever heard good things about rtech. Dont worry bill, we have had our differences in the past but your still on top in my book.

    Welly cooler fitted no differance

Well those figures speak for themselves, im just going by personal experiences. None of what I said in my previous post was logged, just going on how the cars feel/go like side by side. How did yours feel after the first initial ragging? Could you feel the difference?

    Welly cooler fitted no differance

But, is that on dynos? i have found that on the road it is sooo much different. Alot of my friends and 1.8ts, some with FMICs some without, there is no difference between any of them on the road. For example, i have 2 friends with 2 s3s with pretty much indentical tuning, both had FMICs, one of...

BIG bhp A3 owners ( 300bhp+?) or around that

im running standard haldex too, all seems to be ok however its on my list. Andrew im running same set up as the a3 you are talking about, i have decent tyres and in 2wd its pointless.

    Welly cooler fitted no differance

IMO i think the standard SMICs are fine up to stage 2, on the s3s anyway.

    R-Tech you daddies!!

I think r tech are actually the only tuner that i havent heard something bad about..

    Should my S3 be faster???

The honda engines are good, i was suprised at how fast they all are. I have never lost a race against a honda though.. 'yet'.

Tyres! What... In your opinion... Are the best? :)

the eagle f1s are good in the wet and dont seem to wear at a stupidly quick rate.

Tyres! What... In your opinion... Are the best? :)

I like goodyear eagle f1s... good all round tyre. Toyo proxes are really good but wear quick.

what are the best lightweight alloys?

I preferred the way my car drove with the 17s however i would say the 18s handled better. Although, iv got goodyear eagle f1s on my 18s and sh*te tyres on my 17s so not really a fair comparison.
