As far as i can tell the motors are fine as the lights do move up and down, they are just far to low. The adjusters are definitely knackered though as one is missing and the other side just spins, I will try and swap them to halogens, but if not I try what you suggested Tuffty and retrofit...

I think you have to push the keys sideways, towards the doors, ant then pull on the HU. That's how i got mine out anyway
