I also get mid 20's in this cold weather in my 1.8T B7 commuting in stop start traffic (7miles). The MPG is probably down to the weight as the A4 isn't that light. But it is better on a run i find, (mid to high 30's).

If the head of the bolt has or can be cut or snapped off you could use the nut to wind out the bolt, and then drive out completely with a punch.

I would check the Brake pedal switch to start with, to see if It's working correctly, they are known to fail. hth

I Use the synthetic Longlife oil and the large oil filter in mine with oil change every 12 months as these engines can suffer from sludging. On 55000m at the mo, As with goons car - Its not using any at the moment. hth

I've got a dry bearing noise coming from one of the Aux belt pulley's, the noise is only there when the engine is revved and is coming back down to idle speed and when its warm. I've just changed the Aux belt tensioner which made no difference, After I noticed that it juddered quite a bit...

Had a 1.9tdi 2003 Polo before my A4, The 1.9 made it fairly quick. Good cars, Only problem i had with it was the front ARB (the plastic collars broke). If you go for a sport version see what you think of the ride, as mine had 16" wheels and I found the ride was pretty hard with only one up.

Update - Disconnected the battery last weekend and noticed that the esp light came on when starting the car after reconnecting, then It went out and didn't come back on even when pressing the switch. Then this morning when starting it came on and worked as normal, done about 70 miles, so it must...

No didn't try pushing the switch. Didn't get uncontrolled wheelspin when testing the car it acts the same as before the light problem, not very scientific i know..:-). Hope its not the LED, dont fancy getting a new dash panel. I've not got Vagcom but starting to wonder if it would be a good...

Help.. I've got a problem with my 2005 B7 1.8T A4 (not quattro). The warning light on the dash is not coming on when I start the car or by pressing the ESP button. The traction control seems to be working as it should but the light does not come on when it kicks in. This may be unrelated...

Had the ESP Light on the dash come on and stay on today, but after the ignition was switched off and I restarted the car it disapeared. I notice a mention of this in the owners manual (Pg20). Anybody know why the system does this from time to time..??

It could be blocked drain holes in the scuttle area under the windscreen. Its not unknown for these to block and fill the area under the battery with water as it cant drain away..??
