Yep theres a dealer a few mins away from me. The new one was noticebly brighter than the others, so I replaced a working but old bulb on the other end of the cluster to 'even' them up.

Yep they are, did mine a few months ago, all for the sake of one bulb (ocd much). I think there might just be one (maybe two) screws to undo (near the bottom of the boot) It was then just a case of easing off the clips (there are loads of them). Sorry for being a bit vague, its in the haynes...

Are revs fine when the car has neutral 'engaged'?

Could someone do me a favour, next time they are standing outside their car, turn the wipers on. At the beginning of cycle mine go backwards about 3cm or 4cm, blink and you'll miss it, but its only apparent when standing outside of it. Not sure if this is normal or something is knackered.

Not actually sure what a 'wombly fan' sounds like, but I had a Golf that used to wail like a dying cow-moo when I turned the fan on. It was a rotory-type-fan that had it's bearings on the way out. I covered it in wd40, gave it a shake and it stopped.

In this weather (~11 deg C) It still takes about 15 minutes to get up to 90 deg. Once there it stays.

Factory 17" S3 wheels. Suit the car perfectly.
