Its a fairly simple job
Undo the wheel and jack BOTH sides of the car up when changing the cv boot/joint or you wont be able to get the cv joint back into its socket in the wheel hub.
1. Undo the bolt that holds the cv joint in place
2. Undo the 3 ball joint nuts and remove from the wheel hub...
Well then what about connecting it to one of the can bus wires, so it knows when the unit is on.
I had this unit installed in my car Nigel, it charged the ipod when it was on and stopped when the rnse was tuned off. I just cant remember which wires i conneced it to, it just seems a lot of fuss...
Doesn't the unit stay on for a few minutes after you pull the key out though? Im sure it does. It take around 2 mins for it to turn off.

Just pull the trim off, its on clips that look like this <> so its pretty hard to pull off at first. Be carefull with the pillar speaker its connected to the plastic cover, if you get the plastic off you can remove the speaker from it, pretty difficlut to remove the cover but if you brake it...

There are 2 intercooler pipes at the front that go to the radiator and they are prone to snap at the connection and have oil residue around it.
If its not them then its pipes that go where there are the big red caps, as shown...
Reason I ask is I bought a whole set for my 2.0 TDI BKD but ended up not needing it. Its all brand new and boxed up, thought I might see if you wanted to buy it.
