Exactly what happened to me, I bought my current car as being a standard car (from an Audi dealer), and only found out it was remapped when I took it into a specialist for a healthcheck about a month later.
Declared it at the first opportunity.
Might do, come to think of it..
If you have a headphone output on the TV you could set that up, otherwise if you have to use the stereo outputs then you won't.
I actually run a Bose Companion 3 setup with the plasma I have in the bedroom, rather than its own speakers - sounds great, the only drawback is no remote volume as its a computer setup
Might be over budget, but you might get lucky on fleabay..

The cabling you have suggests to me you arent getting 5.1 sound.
tv - sky = hdmi
tv - dvd = hdmi
tv - dvd = optical
Is the DVD one an all-in one system?
A Sky HD box will not output 5.1 sound over HDMI.
The other point is the TV will not passthrough any 5.1 signals, and will downmix to...
Have owned mine over 4 years now, and the first big bill was this year when I had to have two cam and the followers replaced, as well as replacing the oil lines - so a fairly big bill. Things like brake discs/tyres can be expensive in comparison to the S3 as well, so budget for that or work it...
Do it, but take your time and get a good one - I've got a B5 in addition to the S3, and they're well worth it. Performance is in a different league to the S3, especially once they've been mapped. I'm sure the B5 RS4 will feel fairly familiar if you're coming from an S3.
Fuel consumption is...
Removing the vac pipe is pretty common when cutting the airbox to get more airflow. When that is done it's best put a self tapping screw into the vac pipe to avoid any fault codes, etc.
It's possible to remove the whole flap mechanism from the airbox without cutting the box, which I'd say is...
I can personally recommend this amp - I paid just over £400 for this last year, and at £300 its an absolute steal. The newer model is in so Richer seem to be getting rid of old stock

Add the iPod dock, and you have a...
Would agree with that, I replace my well worn (48k) front discs with new OEM discs and that pad/fluid combo - the difference is immense, and I have a hell of a lot more faith in the car's brakes now.
If you're not averse to opening up the boxes, take a look at copy+ (http://www.skycopyplus.co.uk/), as you could copy the contents of one to the other.
Sky HD is only 1080i max (as was the TV), which a good quality component cable can accommodate, plus any of the comparisons I saw in print were pretty subjective. Also Sky were not enforcing HDCP at the time, which is IMO one big reason to force digital standards on their customer base.
Also...
I think the Pace and the Thompson boxes were the ones that also had component outputs as well as HDMI but they were unavailable this time last year.
I was hoping to have a box with component out, to save me some cash replacing cables.
The Amstrad box is not to bad speed-wise, and the new EPG sorted out an issue I had with the old planner due to having a bigger disk in the box. The only issue really is the initial power-on can take an age, and if i'm being picky it does seem to take a few seconds to react when you manually...
Have had an Amstrad model for about a year now, and the only problen was of my own making. Can't really comment on any of the others.
It runs quite warm when watching HD especially, and I had my blu-ray player perched on top - the build of heat was enough to cause picture break-up. The upgraded...
The fuses are listed on the inside of the dash panel.
Numbers might depend on the make of the dyno - some just won't show the numbers with Haldex disabled. Last time, mine 'only' did 226bhp with a stg 1 map even though it's healthy and shows about 209-210g/s on the MAF.
I've been running one now for four years, and can honestly say they are great cars but not without their problems. Some parts, e.g. discs aren't cheap.
The main ones to look out for are cam wear, corroded oil lines, and turbos - so far I have had to sort out the first two recently. The turbos...
Also worth noting, if the Haldex controller itself has failed it will show an error on the dash - IIRC the traction control light will stay light after the first time any slip from the front wheel is detected.
Like others have said check the oil.
There was a long thread on rs246 about this, where the owner did take legal action. I think it may have been settled before it went to court, but it did appear that Audi took the car back.
One of the best sounding cars I've heard for a long time though - B7 RS4 with non-res Milltek.
