    Whats my car worth??

Out of interest, why the requirement of new clutch when the mileage is only 33k miles. Is that because of the extra torque the remap brings?

Anti Roll Bar Bush Kit - Info

That's correct. I don't have the part numbers to hand for the bar and bushes but I've changed the lot recently. The newer bar has no sleeves. I was lucky enough to get the bar from eBay, new for £5 plus postage. Bushes to suit were about £4 each from my local Audi dealer. I'll dig those part...

    chrome galore........

Goal - I wasn't specifically having a dig at your car. Not at all. I was simply generalizing. It's a tricky subject this modifying lark. Basically I find modifications to improve the performance of the car fine. Be it brakes, suspension, engine/turbocharger changes and modifications. I'm all...

    chrome galore........

Are you saying that Audi have dressed the car up with 'tat' from the factory to make it more aesthetically pleasing? Well in some respects that's true. Infact it's true of any high performance model. The thing that makes that perfectly fine is that it left the factory that way. It's the way it's...

    chrome galore........

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here mate. "btw, OE is not just attempts to 'improve' the aethetics by attaching cheap tat to various parts of it's exterior" - is that a question or a statement? OE = as the car left the factory.

    chrome galore........

I'm not attempting to 'delude' anyone. I'm simply saying that, for me, OE looks better than modified. In every way. In my opinion, the image that driving a cosmetically modified car portrays is that of a buffoon. I'm not saying that everyone that modifies their car in this way IS a buffoon, just...

    chrome galore........

Man I must be getting old (32). These days I genuinely feel despair when I see a car's appearance modified, particularly a model I'm a fan of. OE all the way.

    Turbo Dump Noise normal??

A new Bosch diverter valve will sort your problem, about £20 from a dealer. You'll probably never need to change it again.

    Surging problem now sorted

Simple. You have 3 ports on the valve. #1 Vacuum connection (small one at the top), #2 going to the tip and #3 connected to the charge pipe. You leave #1 alone. Then just swap #1 and #2 around. job done.

Kev, the 'vent' part of the valve - which is fitted to the tip, regardless of which way around the valve is fitted is irrelevent in it's operation. As far as opening and closing is concerned. You could vent it to atmosphere and it wouldn't make a difference. The only vacuum the valve is making...

I've had plenty of experience of turbocharged cars with no dv, never seen any evidence of that causing the turbo damage you hear talk of - snapped shafts, broken off vanes from the compressor wheel etc. Myth.

Sorry, I should have said assuming there was no electronic boost control going on, N249 bypass. So yeah, actuator pressure only, maybe with a mechanical boost control device.

I actually misread what you put there Matt, I disagree. The design of the valve and how the diaphragm, cup and spring sit in the body really needs the air coming straight into the face of the diaphragm. I think the seal could be compromised the other way around.

Yep, that's obviously the preffered way to fit the valve. Has anyone tried not running a valve at all, maybe in a track-day only or race application? you wouldn't lose as much metered air throught the turbo's compressor inlet as you would via an externally venting dump valve - I know they...

    Surging problem now sorted

Under boost conditions, there is no vacuum. The boost pressure in the inlet manifold finds it's way down the signal pipe, and equalizes the pressure coming from the other side of the diaphragm (charge pipe side), preventing the valve from opening. When you back off the throttle, you introduce...

    Chrome mirrors painted

Bare aluminium DOES corrode. It oxidizes if exposed to the elements, hence why Audi applied lacquer to finish. I think the best way to refurbish/refinish the mirror covers would be to polish them then have them anodized without colour.

S3 Front ARB Bushes, expensive to replace?

I've just had the front anti-roll bar, bushes and drop links replaced on my S3. I bought all the parts fully intending to do the work myself. But work constraints prevented me so I arranged an appointment with Euro Performance near Llantrisant, S Wales. 80 quid labour and 2 hours later, all...

    S3 MAF reading

Ok, cool. Do you think it's likely my MAF reading will increase to 170 - 180g/s with an extra 1000rpm? At 4120rpm my reading is 104.67 g/s, 5080rpm it's 132.97, 5920rpm it's 152.5. So for every 1000rpm jump (after 4k) , the MAF value is increasing at least 20 g/s.
