Just the weather for it - we have about 2 pints of milk spilt in rear footwell.
Mopped up all I could see,
and disconnected carpet trim from the edge the car ( by the door ) so I could lift it up and put some towels underneath to soak up the soapey water ( so under the front passenger seat )...
evomaster many thanks for the suggestion - did google and came up with info on the engine being blocked by the immobiliser, and a prob. with the abs sendinga message..
I'm a bit baffled as no work has been done recently on the car, that might have dislodged something? and the fault came on...
Hi, bought a code reader from e Bay for our 2002, A6, 1.9 TDi, 130bhp avant, 130k miles on gthe clock.
seems to have worked, and scanned the car's memory - but it came up with codes I couldn't see in the Reader booklet:

Does anyone know what these refer to.

our 2002 A6 does something similar in really cold frosty weather - the central locking would unlock the drivers door - but when you get in and try to close the door - the door catch won't engage, so you can't shut the door ( it will shut - but won't hold iteself shut ) as above - guess...

I think a long beep is supposed to be the reversing sensors telling you they have a fault.
Can anyone suggestion any connectiosn to look for / check that might be causing this?:faint:

high ish miles 128k.
Been running fine ( if a little smokey/exhaust smell at start up ) - nasty feeling I may have snagged the exhaust on a metal parking bollard that was laid flat ).
Started fine yesterday, drove 5 -10mins, parked up...
