It’s not about blowing engines up, it’s about prolonging the life of them.. starting the engine with the clutch depressed increases wear on the thrust washers between the crank and block, which on the TFSI engines are/were a design fault.
I have sold 4000+ in the 5 years I have been making...
Unless you're not in the UK, the Mk5 doesn't require the clutch to be depressed to start the engine, the S3 does though. PM me if you want to order one :)
It's not the clutch/flywheel it affects, it's the crank/thrust bearing/block that is the issue. It absolutely is worth fitting, to prolong the life of the engine
I was led to believe that with the connections on the bottom, the oil didn't circulate around the entire cooler, it just took the path of least restriction, whereas with the connections at the top, the oil was forced through the whole cooler
My highly modified 2008 Audi S3 8P 430bhp hybrid turbo huge spec is on ebay:

O2m's are a piece of **** to fit a diff to/strengthen the selector forks. I did mine myself, used a very good guide:

Although it looks like photobucket has yet again ruined another great thread with it's greed :(
Thanks for the recommendation @HHS3. The "Push Clutch To Start" Bypass Harness won't prolong the life of the clutch, but it will help prolong/prevent excessive wear to the thrust washers/crank/block caused by lack of lubrication between the crank and thrust washers during startup with the clutch...
I had a similar issue, not sure what exactly it is, but mine seems to be worse when it's cold. I find that if I turn the ignition on, let the fuel pump prime, then turn it off, then back on to prime (a bit like you did with old diesel cars with glow plugs), it cured it. It didn't do it every...
I actually make fractionally less on eBay than I do selling them direct, thanks to eBay and PayPal fees...bit of a joke really! I would always suggest a direct transaction where possible, works out cheaper for everybody!
Thanks to all that replied, glad you are all pleased :)
Bit of a bump, and not sure if it is still relevant, but I have found a solution for this. Not sure if its sticky ground with regards to advertising or not though?!
Basically I have adapted my "Push Clutch To Start" Bypass Harness to irradiate this issue on the 1.6 cars. If anybody wants any...
What's more worrying is on the right hand port, the misalignment is left/right, not up/down, so no amount of careful installation would cure that, because the misalignment on installation can only change the up/down. That's an original OEM hotside, so the casting must be off
No clip on it (I don't think anyway, from memory!).
It made 410bhp 402ftlbs, but still had more to give. Absolutely ballistic spool up on my setup, so really looking forward to seeing what it'll do on yours. Pretty confident it'll do 400+, so should be good fun :)
