Dead Battery Following Electirc Window Fix

Errr...! Regular car batteries are around 45 amp hours. If your car was drawing 3 amps, then the battery would be flat in 15 hours. Either the AA man is retarded and your car won't start when you go back to it today, or he was wrong about the 3amp bit. It should be under 0.03amps (giving...

Dead Battery Following Electirc Window Fix

So there is currently a 4amp drain on my battery which explains why it went dead over night. I can only think that it's something to do with the electric windows so I want to remove the fuse and check the drain again... Problem is I can't find the electric window fuse! It's not in the main...

    Service Display Reset

I do appreciate the constructive comments, but VAG-Slag, it's pretty clear you couldn't be bothered to read the original post. If that's the case, don't bother replying because it makes you look like a tool.

Dead Battery Following Electirc Window Fix

And the problems keep coming... I fixed my two broken electric windows last night. It was a simple case of disassembly, swapping the broken plastic clips for some new ones and reassembly. Everything worked fine last night; windows up, windows down, and I drove home (22 miles) without a...

    Service Display Reset

So "Ignition off" would mean turning the key all the way anti-clockwise after the engine has been running? I would count that as position 0, right?

    Service Display Reset

Hi guys, I know this must come up a lot, but I've been Googleing and running out to my car for the past hour and a half... I'm trying to reset the "SERVICE" display which comes up (along with some beeps) every time I start the car. I've just serviced it myself, assuming I'd be able to reset...

    250bhp+ from a KO3s???

I would be genuinely interested to learn if I had any of that wrong, and I'm willing to accept that I might! I almost certainly don't have as much experience with dynos as some people on here, but what I do know, I was taught by the Dyno Dynamics guy who sold my uni a dyno and taught us how to...

    Euro Car Parts Deals.... Again...

They have three manufacturers for OEM brake pads and discs: Eicher, Pagid & ATE. Any ideas which ones to go for? Seems Eicher and budget, ATE the most expensive, but does it make a difference so long as they have the wear sensor? Cheers guys!

    250bhp+ from a KO3s???

Dynos do not measure power at the flywheel. They can't even measure power directly at the wheels! Dynos measure the resistance required to match the torque at the wheels. It then calculates torque at the wheels and then calculates power at the wheels by using the following formula: HP =...

My latest S3 mods H&R Springs with Koni FSD Dampers & Jabbasport remap etc...

"Lowering springs" are just shorter free-length springs than the standard ones. If you fit them with the standard dampers, it simply means they are a little further through their stroke (maximum displacement) than they would normally be at static ride height. If the "upgrade" dampers are any...

    250bhp+ from a KO3s???

Dynos measure power at the wheels buddy! Only way to measure it at the engine is to have the engine out of the car and on a dedicated engine dyno... even so, it's pointless unless you're looking at minimising powertrain losses (I'd be interested if anyone here has looked into it for their S3 tbh).

    250bhp+ from a KO3s???

That's 259bhp at the engine... How exactly do you measure it at the engine? =P I know some places do coast down tests to try and measure drivetrain losses, but I've never had much faith in them. Anyway, who cares what your engine is putting out, it's only what the wheels are putting out that...

My latest S3 mods H&R Springs with Koni FSD Dampers & Jabbasport remap etc...

I haven't personally tested the Bilstein B8's but we've tested many Bilstein dampers before. As I said above really, you won't find an increase in performance from these cheap mass-produced dampers imo. Put simply, race teams don't use this stuff. If they even use Koni/Bilstein/Sachs dampers...

My latest S3 mods H&R Springs with Koni FSD Dampers & Jabbasport remap etc...

It depends what you are after. If you want lower, stiff and "sporty" feeling, then I'm sure almost all aftermarket dampers will be pretty similar in those terms. I would doubt if any tuning companies have done any testing other than putting them on a car and going for a drive, and while this...

My latest S3 mods H&R Springs with Koni FSD Dampers & Jabbasport remap etc...

The FSD Dampers are not what they advertise. Koni claim that they can "End the compromise between comfort and handling" by using "Frequency Selective Damping". Their marketing jumbo states that their dampers will provide less damping (softer) at high wheel frequencies, whilst providing more...

What colour of wheels on a Dolphin Grey S3

    Stamped Metal License Plates

Cheers for the links! Dubmeister can guarantee they are UK road legal, but of course that means posting original documents to them... Er, I think not. Might have to pass on this one unless I can find somewhere within reasonable driving distance to provide the docs =(

    Stamped Metal License Plates

'lo all. Does anyone know where one could buy a set of stamped metal license plates (Euro-style)? Also, does anyone know if they are legal to use on public roads in the UK? =D Cheers chaps.
