Used to have one of them, as a weekend toy. The Escorts are pretty laggy and feel quite sluggish when standard, esp the Larger turbo, but should still beat a std S3 off the line as due to the solid torque accross higher revs . Should be interesting this one! Stay away if your mate gets it...

Taffy, Magnatec not the best choice as viscosity is wrong for car, but any oil is better than none! According to earlier posts, I hear Castrol SLX is the correct one for the S3 (careful not SLX II), they sell this in Halfords. Cheers Chris

Just put a J on my S3 in place of the N75c, wasn't too convinced at first. Took it out for a longer run, car seems smoother if anything, but with a bit more top end boost. Still not hit limp mode yet Andy, If I hang on to the old N75, Do you fancy testing the two valves using Vagcom? Maybe AMD...

Seat comes out easy! Disconnect battery (god I sound like Haynes already!) Slide seat back and remove front cover. This should reveal two bolts. Undo these and push seat backwards. The front of the seat should come out of its mount. Lift up the front slightly and disconnect wires to swithces...

Defo improved the bas*ard with a bit of stripping and tightening. Need to test on a longer run though. Thanks for help!

If it's only the switch thats at fault you should be able to bypass it fairly easily to get seat back up, as a one off. Or can the height switch be removed on it's own, and swapped for one on passenger side? as a temp measure. Perhaps try removing it and cleaning the contacts/connections. £250...
