For now the problem seems to have gone away by itself, which is strange given the fact that darkness, rain and lack of time have prevented me from properly doing anything about it. Since last Thursday the light has behaved itself and only turns on when I want it to. Obviously I'm expecting it to...
Hi Folks
I'm back in a B6 (my third) after a three year hiatus in a B5. Previously I had a 2001 1.8T quattro Sport and then a 2003 S4. The latest is a 2001 2.5TDI quattro Sport.
I've had the car just over a month and I'm experiencing a frustrating and annoying problem I've not encountered...
I thought I'd update this thread for the benefit of anyone with a similar problem who's searching for information (one of the biggest frustrations I found was that the majority of relevant threads just get left.)
My coolant loss continued at a steady rate until the last bank holiday on a trip...
Thanks jcb.
I get a tiny bit of white smoke first thing on cold mornings, but to me this looks like nothing more than the normal condensation you expect. Within a minute it's just the normal dark diesel smoke and there's absolutely no water coming out. Is white smoke from gasket failure...
Thank you both.
aragorn - no I haven't checked under the tank; I'd have assumed that the garage would've done this in their search for leaks but as always never assume! I'll have a look as soon as I can. Naturally we always look for water in the oil as a symptom of gasket failure but there's...
Hi all
My A4 is losing coolant and I'm not sure why. I've searched this and the other forums exhaustively and read plenty of similar stories, but none are quite the same and it seems that people seldom update their threads once they've got sorted. So, I'm asking for help!
Car is a '98...
No, it didn't unfortunately. It improved the airflow slightly but the long and short of it is that the air coming into the car is damp and misting up all the windows pretty quickly even if I have it directed into the footwells. When it's warm enough outside for the a/c to work it's not quite...
Hi aragorn
Thanks for the reply, but I think it's more than that. I've had quite a few cars with a/c and this goes beyond the usual bit of condensation you get when you turn it off. I've owned the car since 2006 and it's not done it before; I usually have the a/c off except when it's really...
Adam - I know it's a long time ago now but did you ever get to the bottom of this? I have exactly the same steaming up symptoms. The plenum chamber is bone dry - as are the carpets - so no signs of blocked drains. CC warms up nicely and blows ice cold on LO so I doubt if it needs re-gassing...
I appear to have exactly the same problem. Stopped off on the way home from work and when I started the engine again the revs rose to just over 2k rpm for about a second before it settled to idle. Pulling away I noticed a lack of power and general sluggishness which I assume is limp mode. No...
Yes! I watched the 280SL one and really enjoyed it so I'm recording the 911 one tonight. Not bothered about the Esprit or Land Rover ones (and I'm running out of disk space!)
Probably never - they tried this approach when the car was being developed, but one or two of the test mules overheated and the idea was eventually abandoned.
Thankfully the existing wheels from the V8 are a no-cost option.
